"My heat pump which had been installed 2 years ago by FH Furr suddenly stopped working Sunday afternoon. With the heat warnings in effect, I knew I needed help, FAST! Blair arrived this morning abd diagnosed the issue and replaced the condensation pump. These new "smart" systems have more brains than some humans!! When the pump failed, it shut down the entire system. However, Blair had the old school know-how and work ethic to get my system back online and back to normal. "After leaving a message on Angie's List on Saturday, Jim Stephens responded within an hour or so. After exchanging information, he volunteered to make a service call the next day Sunday. Because of my 5-day work week, this was a big relief. On Sunday, he called, as agreed, and asked if he could be at my house in a few minutes. As agreed, he arrived promptly. He diagnosed the problems and, at my request, provided details for solution fix. He had the part in his van and explained how the fix would be done and how it would work. He answered questions and explained clearly and thoroughly. Before beginning the work, he gave me an estimate, which I agreed to. After the work, his stated charge was no more than what his estimate had been. In addition to providing a high-quality solution, he provided, at my request, education about a related issue - the exterior drain for the sump pump. He thoroughly explained how the exterior drain could be extended away from the house to mitigate the fact that the water flow was eroding the soil near the foundation. When Jim left, I was a completely happy customer. I knew that 1) it was not necessary to replace the sump pump and 2) I had the knowledge, going forward, to know how to routinely check and maintain the sump pump functionality. Without hesitation, I can honestly say I will be calling JM Stephens for all my plumbing issues in the future."

"We had finally saved up enough to consider finishing part of our basement. But we knew we had some moisture and mold issues that needed to be taken care of first. Basement Gurus evaluated the situation and provided us a plan of attack. They upgraded our existing French drain system, removed the existing mold, and treated our walls to prevent future issues. Then when it was determined that our project would require an egress to meet our township's building code, they installed that too. The work was extremely high quality and efficient. They were respectful of our home. And when we ran into some minor issues with their finishing contractor, they quickly got involved and got everything working smoothly. Our project rep, Phil, was extremely attentive to our needs and what WE wanted to do, and didn't steer us into something we didn't want. He worked with us on pricing and payments so that we would be comfortable with our finances. "It went well. They were prompt and courteous. The only slight negative was that they replaced the filter with a size a bit too small. When I inquired about it, they quickly offered to restock and return later, but assured me that the inch or two difference would not hurt anything. I'm going to take their word on that, but it struck me as lack of preparation or cutting a corner a bit without apprising me."

"These guys were excellent. I had originally hired them because I needed a major rush job done and they pulled it off. Then they
continued after the main issue was resolved and came back multiple times to do an extremely thorough job waterproofing the basement.  Whereas we would find puddles down there before, we have not had any issues since they were there.  They did all kinds of things ? from putting some kind of stripping on the base of the walls to building an entire roof over my back stairs to adding a French drain to putting covers on all the basement windows. And they did all this for significantly less money than other companies quoted us - and those other guys did not offer nearly as much work!  Incredible.
The one lack I would say this company had was the timing issue. On more than one occasion were told they were on their way, but they only showed up hours later.  Also, sometimes they would be working in the basement and kind of just disappear without the work being finished, later explaining they had to run to another job. All of which was fine with me ? after the initial work, we weren?t in a big rush.  But it is something to note.
Notwithstanding that issue, we were very pleased and are recommending them to anyone who asks about such services.
