"I highly recommend Connecticut Lead Services. I needed their help for an inspection. They were referred by a friend that used them in the past. They returned my initial call right away and scheduled an inspection on the next business day, they actually shuffled their schedule to help me. Dave and Brian did a thorough job and educated me on how lead was used in older houses. They were really patient with my questions and took their time to do an excellent job. It is clear that their first concern was safety of the people in the house. I will definitely call them for my next project."

"John was so helpful since our first conversation. He was able to schedule us a day after I contacted him. He was punctual to our time. In addition, John was extremely thorough in his assessment of the scope of our problem. He had a hypothesis of the possible culprit to our situation. We had a small leak during the winter in our heating system. He provided so much education and guidance of the next steps to do. We decided to complete additional air quality test in addition to mold testing. His reports are very thorough and straightforward. We appreciate all his guidance and suggestions."

"He performed test in my attic, living space and outdoors. During this time he explained all about mold and what makes it grow along with how the tests are performed. He is very knowledgeable in his profession and you can tell that he enjoys his job. During his testing I had mentioned that I was selling my house. So after he performed the mold testing he asked if I would like for him to look around the house (basement and furnace area) and give me some possible problems. He did not charge me any extra for looking <br /> around my basement and furnace. He spend 90 minutes with me, the mold test only took 30 minutes. I never did sell my house but when I do I will definitely hire Larry to inspect my new home. <br />"

"We hired Iris to collect and test samples from pipe wrappings in our recently purchased home for asbestos. The tech that came out was polite, thorough, and communicative. The people I spoke with to schedule the appointment and pay the invoice were incredibly polite and prompt to reply, and the final report that they provided was incredibly detailed and easy to understand. Definitely recommend this service if you are testing for asbestos in your home."

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Danbury, CT

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
