"Heres a review you could use: We recently had a stamped concrete patio installed by Charlie and his team, and we couldn?t be happier with the results! Charlie, the owner, was incredibly professional and an absolute pleasure to work with. The patio turned out stunning and matched our exact specifications. He even went above and beyond by using the leftover dirt to fill in a small divot in the yard where our golden retriever liked to play in the rain, making it a safer and more level spot. We highly recommend Charlies services for anyone looking to add beauty and quality to their outdoor space!"

"Extremely respectful, knowledgeable, polite, and prompt. My business had been neglected all season and once they came in it was as if I had a whole new property. The shaping on my bushes is amazing and I am so proud to walk into my office everyday. My parking area has more space for my employees, not only was I happy with the work but so were all my employees! 10/10 would hire them every time."

"Jay did a great job installing a multi-level paver patio and natural stone steps. He provided a quote for the job very quickly and completed the job within the promised time frame. We are very appreciative of Jay's design ideas and detailed workmanship. He always responded to our inquiries in a timely manner and was very accommodating of our schedule. It was a real pleasure dealing with Jay on this project. No stress and no hassles. The patio turned out great."

"This is a utility cellar in an old house, it is not used for any other purpose. My husband and I vacuumed the walls and took down the cobwebs before Drini came to do the work--a one day re-pointing job. We had a total of three estimates, all contractors, including Drini, told us it was a small job, one day. We chose Father and Son because his price was half of the next lowest bid. <br /> He arrived on time for both the estimate and the work. He was pleasant, efficient and very good. He scraped down the walls with a wire brush to remove the lose mortar, dug out larger pieces and refilled them. Very straightforward. The work was excellent--all the lines were clean and straight. He cleaned up after themselves and left. <br /> He estimated that the work would take 8 hours; it took 7.  <br /> I would use him again. <br />"

"I had Dane come out and give us a quote for 3 projects; a walkway with pavers, adding small stone and steps to a firepit area and re-graveling the drive way. Due to budget, I had Dane do the walkway and firepit area last year and this year in April he came to re-gravel the driveway. The work he did on the first 2 projects I was excited and pleased with. He was a state engineer and I felt that he had good ideas and was very helpful. This year he came back to do the driveway which included expanding it 5', and adding new stone. He did quote me for regular stone and also the more expensive white marble chip stone, which I could not afford. However, we never spoke of what other driveway stone options there were or what i would be receiving. The contract was very vague saying typical gravel driveway stone and doesn't mention much about the excavation of the old gravel/weeds. The day the driveway was done I called him, because I felt the stones were too "loose" and not compacted enough. As I had mentioned in our initial meeting, we get a lot of weeds in it and I find it to be embarrassing so I wanted this taken care of. He assured me that they "compacted the heck" out of it and it would be fine. A couple weeks later I contacted him again because weeds were starting to spring up everywhere and I didn't think a newly re-done driveway should already have weeds showing in such quantity. He mentioned several times to just spray weed killer, but our well is close by and I do not want to harm pollinators like bees and butterflies with toxins. He said we discussed the type of stone he brought but we did not, and that too much time had gone by since our initial meeting to remember everything. I can understand that, but I know the weed concern was certainly mentioned. He did agree to send someone with a bit more rock for a fee ($100)which he did waved, but I still do not think enough of a base or rock was but down to prevent the weed situation. (I have pictures but will not let me add here) In the worst areas, I can remove a rock and see the dirt below, I do not see a base at all. The drive has very skimp areas and in the areas where there is less weeds, there is a much more noticeable thickness. They used a hand compacter on the driveway because the large ride on machine could not be used in my driveway due to size I was told but perhaps that would have helped compact it better. I really liked Dane in our first projects, I think he came across as someone who wants to give fair work at a fair price, but I can not give a good review on the driveway project, so I left 3 stars because of the good job on the first projects. It took me a long time to save enough money to get the driveway re-done and I just don't think it should look like it does after just 2/3 months. He was not present on the initial day of the driveway nor when more rock was brought to see the situation for himself, he just asked for pictures. Going forward I would look for a driveway business to fix the issue, but for walkways and patio he still does a good job."

"This was a very good experience from start to finish. My inquiry was responded to immediately. Noah, the owner, scheduled a consultation, showed up on time, gave a reasonable quote and expectations of the job I was asking for. When it came time to do the work, again Noah was on time with everything they needed to complete the job. They were very courteous, professional and thorough. They explained to me everything that was happening along the way and kept good attention to detail. The job took just about a day, just as Noah planned. They cleaned up after themselves and walked me through the finished product ensuring I was satisfied with the job. I am very pleased and happy with the work Ark Home Improvement performed. They even brought in my garbage bins from the curb... little thing, but much appreciated."

"<p>Our experience was great with this company. The owner is very knowledgable about masonry and building and helped us design a great outdoor environment. We went with a blue stone which looks so natural in the back yard environment. His guys were professional and worked so hard to hand build this stone patio. The owner and/or supervisor was onsite each day to oversee the work. I would use Ferrandino enterprise again for any project we have. The cost was well worth the quality product we got. We rarely used our deck and rarely spent time in our back yard. Now we are out there all year round and love spending time in our back yard. We are now the hosts for most of our summer BBQ with friends since we have the best backyard!</p> <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Danielson, CT

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
