"This company, A-1 Shower Repair, is family owned and run. One brother comes out and looks at the situation and evaluates what work is needed and gives a bid. The other brother and a helper did all of the work themselves. No hired crews, no workmen who don't speak English or don't speak it well. <br /> Both brothers are great communicators in that they explain things patiently and thoroughly. No surprises in cost. They predicted the job would take 4-5 days. It took 4. They were available to start within a few weeks. I felt as if these guys were like neighbors or friends helping me out more than regular hired workers. I felt very comfortable with them in my home when I was here with them alone. They try hard to contain the construction mess. They picked up all of the supplies, I just told them the tile store and the tile identification numbers. They know the business, they have been in it for quite a few years. When I requested they do a certain tile pattern, I was told they could do it but that it wasn't a good idea and why. (I used glass tile which has a painted silver backing. When they are cut, the silver backing at the edge looks jagged). They knew this before even cutting one of these tiles. So I went with everything they suggested once they explained the whys. The tile work was very well done, I am impressed. They make sure you are happy, they really do strive to please. These guys are also some of the most content people I have ever met. They stay calm regardless of the situation. They were very polite and considerate. As the project was being done, some changes were decided upon and they were careful to let me know the added cost of each before doing that work. (Originally we were going to get a new heavy glass shower door but I decided right before they started that I really didn't want that, I prefer a shower curtain for privacy and to add an easy-to-change splash of color to the bathroom. It was decided that it would be best to make narrow walls on each side of the shower front so that the shower curtain could hang on the shower side of the walls and contain the water spray at the sides of the shower curtain. The added cost of those walls was about $250, very reasonable and I saved $900 by not getting the glass door. I was told that they built the walls and covered them in tile work in such a way that a glass door could easily be added in the future if desired).  <br /> The brother who does the work can tile, do plumbing work and did some minor electrical work. I am used to workers only doing one thing, I was very pleased that he was willing and skilled to do it all himself! <br /> As well as being a member of Angie's List, this company is a member of BBB and has an A+ rating with Houston Better Business Bureau, which was very important to me.  <br /> I live north of Houston and they are located south of Houston but they did not charge a travel cost and didn't complain about the distance or traffic. No charge to come out and give a bid price either. <br />"

"John and his brother, Daniel, did a beautiful job restoring the terrazzo floors in our 1970s era home (approx. 900 sq. ft.).  They also helped my husband to cut a trench in the kitchen slab to add a conduit run to an island location.  Afterwards they repaired the area by pouring new terrazzo with marble chips nearly identical to the original.  The floors now shine beautifully and we are very pleased.  It is obvious these two have a passion for continuing their family's history of terrazzo restoration.  Would definitely recommend to anyone needing terrazzo restoration/repair work. <br />"
