"Larry knew exactly what we needed. He was calm when problems came up, delivered above and beyond. He repaired problems after we signed off with no charge. He hires good talent who are also personable. I have referred him to several friends and he is now working with my brother's home. Can't say enough good things about him."

"Shane and Chase at EXCEL came out to survey and repair already existing underdecking that was the ceiling to our sunroom under our outdoor deck that was initially installed by another contractor earlier on and it was leaking like crazy. EXCEL completely re-did it did it right, and greatly improved the quality and the asthetic feature overall. They remained to finish every last detail , cleaning up the area around it in our back yard when they were finished and taking great care as if it was thier own property. We could not be happier! would always go with EXCEL and wished we had found them earlier!"

"I wanted to build an addition for a better master suite and enlarge my living room. Wolf Creek supplied me with computer generated images of the layout they suggested. My living room now fits all the furniture I want. The master suite checks all the boxes. An organized walk in closet. A beautiful and spacious bathroom and plenty of room around my king size bed. A huge thanks to the team at Wolf Creek. "

"We brought Jeff and his team in to do a major home remodel and expansion. Basically rebuilding our house from the inside out. We are beyond happy with the results. The workmanship and attention to detail is second to none. Jeff and his team worked with us along the way on modifications and tweaks to our original plans to give us more than we could have ever expected. Next project is finishing out our basement this winter. Jeff and his team are the only people I would trust with that work."

"We signed a contract with St. Croix Kitchen and Bath in May of 2025 to have our 3 bathrooms updated. We put down half of the project?s cost which was a substantial amount. It is now February of 2026 and we only have 1 bathroom completed. The owner is dishonest, rude and unprofessional. The whole process with them has been very stressful- very poor communication. Avoid this company at all costs - they are most likely in financial trouble."

"Joe and his team did a fantastic job with our roof on our home and garage and did so on time and within our budget. Joe also completed some siding work that was in need of repair and went above and beyond to make sure we were completely satisfied. I highly recommend Joe to my family and friends for any exterior work that needs to be completed!"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Delano, MN

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
