"I contacted Mr. Ali in order to have him give an estimate for vinyl siding for our home. He arrived promptly and gave a very thorough presentation to show he was fully insured. He showed pictures of his work, awards and commendations he has received and the names of references. He showed samples of the product he would use, patiently answered all of my questions and gave his input when asked about possible colors that would go with our brick. His quote was comparable to the other quote I received, but I decided to go with Mr. Ali because I felt that he was an honest and fair businessman. I was not disappointed. He was in constant contact with me and his workers during the installation. He came to inspect the work and answered any questions that I had. The workers were wonderful and the job was completed in the amount of days that was estimated. The siding looks even better than expected! "Ed Chachere is a local builder. There are a handful of people that work for him. They are very desired around town and are very sought after for very high end buildings by upmarket people. A lot of architects in town use Ed Chachere Construction. His work is very precise and he is being very careful with our 60-year-old house. They are using screws instead of nails for the work. Everything is very, very sharp in the cuts and very clean. I like his precision and the fact that the work is strong. He handpicks the lumber and is very careful to put the right side out. As a carpenter myself I look for those kinds of things. He has been very considerate. There were a couple of deck boards that shouldn’t have been side by side, but they got it right by tearing them up and remixing it. That was an example of how they were very willing to do what we wanted them to do. He has involved me throughout the process. The other day he fell off my roof and had to be taken to the emergency room. He was back on the job the next day, but we just made him sit all day and give directions from the chair. He has been here everyday since. I think he is great. He worked from the crack of morning until almost the last bit of daylight in the evening. He put in long, long days and I like that about him. We will probably use him in future."

"Bruce responded to our original call for an estimate promptly. He originally gave us an informal quote of $800, though his final bid came in at $1100.

The good:  Quality work; the finished window looks very professional and is beautiful. Bruce took an irregular opening and managed to not only build a nice window but also conceal the flaws in the original construction. He is careful, precise, and is also a really nice guy. He takes pride in his work, and it shows. At one point, when he was dissatisfied with how one part came out, he redid it without being asked, going over it again and again until he was satisfied.

The bad:  On two of the three days he came to work on the project, he arrived hours late - once at 12:45pm and once at 4:30pm. He did not return phone calls when we tried to contact him for an estimated time of arrival. He also did not put any protective covering down in our bathtub where he was working, and it was damaged with a small gouge when he dropped one of the heavy glass blocks into it. He repaired it before the job was done, but used epoxy for a porcelain tub instead of plastic. He also did not wipe his feet on our doormat or use contractor's paper where he walked, and our carpet is really dirty. Not a big deal, really, but annoying."
