"Cody and his crew were amazing-- we had a complicated issue that required multiple visits and coordination with the city's engineers. Cody was professional, knowledgeable, and as dedicated to getting the job done right as if it had been his own home. His quotes were accurate and competitive, he and his crew were on time (and often stayed late!) and kept the work area clean and safe. We will never call anyone else!"

"????? If I could give zero stars, I would Hiring this contractor was a nightmare from start to finish. The bathroom they delivered is so poorly done that I feel like I need to redo it entirely. They rely on subpar subcontractors with no professionalism or craftsmanship. ? Overpromise and underdeliver: I had to stay on top of every detail myself, doing the job the contractor was hired to manage. ? Unreliable: Never kept appointments or confirmed schedules. The only time they showed up on time was to collect payment. ? Unsafe practices: At one point, a subcontractor was cutting concrete inside the bathroom with a gas?powered tool, filling my entire home with smoke. I had to intervene to stop it and argue just to get basic protections like tarps in place. ? Poor management: Subcontractors openly complained about not being paid, and I even had to send one home myself because of unacceptable behavior. ? End result: Substandard work that does not reflect the money spent. Save yourself "

"Fixed two shower problems. One was linking and the other didn’t have enough hot water pressure. Jason was able to get a 29 year old shower stem unit replaced saving me hundreds of dollars on one bathroom. The second bathroom needed a water pressure adjustment again saving me hundreds of dollars."

"Huge shout out to the crew at Main Stream Mechanical. Eric came out, reviewed my current system, and gave me his recommendation for replacing my furnace and hot water heater with a new, energy efficient furnace/hot water heater. Brenda, as always, was a pleasure to deal with. Answered all my emails and calls promptly and gave me all the information I needed in a timely manner. She even went out of her way to register my new furnace and provide me with all the information I needed to apply for my rebate! Nick and Marcus did a great job installing my new furnace/hot water heater. Both were very friendly and professional. Nick answered all my questions, gave me a “tutorial” on the emergency shut off procedure for my new furnace, and did a fantastic job re-plumbing all the lines needed for the install. I highly recommend Main Stream Mechanical for all your HVAC needs."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Derry, NH

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
