"Great. They removed several branches in my Oak tree and my Magnolia tree. Then they fixed my drainage by removing some dirt to direct water away from my patio and planted some grass. It hasn't rained yet so I don't know how successful they were yet. I was very pleased with their work."

"We initially planned to install gravel, but Derek took the time to recommend Zoysia grass instead, explaining it would be more suitable for our shaded backyard and more cost-effective in the long run. I really appreciated that he didn’t just move forward with the more expensive option, but instead provided thoughtful, honest guidance that was in our best interest. In addition to installing the Zoysia, the team also added river rocks for a drainage area and completed minor grading and resloping. They were very professional, efficient, and completed all the work within a single day. The pricing was very reasonable, and the quality of work exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality outdoor services. "

"When Johnny came out, we really didn't know what to expect. He analyzed our issues and came up with a detailed plan and drawing. His crews showed up on time and work was completed quickly and efficiently. He didn't ask for any payments until the first big rain storm; he wanted to make sure all the gutters and drains were working properly. I highly recommend Blalock Landscaping and Drainage."

"Pretty well. The rep offered some good ideas on how to fix the drainage problem.

I made a mistake in not insisting on a cross-section drawing of what was to be installed, not only for my benefit, but to aid in communication between the sales staff and the installers. There was some confusion about how the landscape cloth was to be installed (wrap around pipe or lay on top of pipe), whether to install steel edging alongside the trench or at the bottom of the trench, what to use for fill-soil or existing cobblestones, etc). I also think I made a mistake by not specifying that landscape cloth be laid along the sides and bottom of the trench before the pipe and fill was placed in the trench.

The crew was pleasant, helpful and eager to please. I was happy to have them there.

Jericho fixed a curb outlet they'd installed many years before; did not explicitly charge for that. It was originally built like thousands of other curb outlets in this town---chop a wide, irregular gap in the curb, extend the PVC pipe through it, put some concrete in it and wait for it to be hit by a tire, breaking the pipe and shattering the concrete. And of course, the new concrete does not bind to the old concrete. Result: an ugly, irregular piece of concrete with a broken PVC pipe in it. Lesson-chopping an irregular hole means some places of the repair concrete will be too thin to offer much compressive strength against a collision with a tire. I don't know, but looking around town, I think cutting a narrow section out of the curb with a saw gives a much better result than chopping a wider, irregular gap. "

"Above expectations. Exceptional service, installation and quality. I would definitely recommend this company, no need to look any further. Shout out to the general manager at the spring/louetta location, Jared R. for helping make this process go so smoothly. He helped answer all of my questions and was very informative. This location is worth the drive up to if you are from Houston, they have great customer service and my floors look amazing!"

"Southern Plumbing did an outstanding job in solving the problem with my leaking kitchen faucet. The crew was very professional and knowledgeable. They took apart my faucet and found it was a torn gasket. They showed me how to take apart the faucet and replace the gasket. I ran down to Home Depot found the gasket that fit. Put the faucet back together and no more leak. They did not charge me anything and just call them if I ran into a problem. I highly recommend Southern Plumbing for any of your plumbing needs. I will definitely use them again."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Dickinson, TX

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
