"We worked with Shawn at Carpet Carousel to replace all the carpeting on our second floor. We told Shawn that, with young kids, we needed a very durable carpet that also looked nice. He showed us a few options and explained the pros/cons of each without trying to upsell us or give us something we didn't need. Once we decided to purchase and scheduled installation, the team of installers were fabulous. Not only did they have to work around other contractors (we were at the end of ice dam repairs), but they were clean and courteous as well. The finished carpets look awesome and we couldn't be happier. They even left us several large remnants so that we can have them cut/bound into area rugs or bathmats if desired. Overall, we couldn't be happier with Carpet Carousel and will definitely go back for additional rug and carpet needs <br />"

"We worked with Creative Carpet to to help us install a runner on our stairs -- and we had a great experience. When we bought our house, we refinished the hardwood floors, which were beautiful, and also very slippery on the stairs. We didn't want our daughter and dog to slip, so we went to Creative Carpet. They gave us a great price on the carpet we used, did the project beautifully and efficiently, and they were very responsive to all of our questions along the way. I would absolutely recommend them."

"I left a message, and Mike Tran quickly called me back.  His workload was about 1 week out, which worked for me.  He came over the next day to review the interior and provide a quote.  He emailed me the quote which ended up matching up to the final invoice.  The work took about a week, and the result was great.  The floor installation was tightly done, and the white oak used looks beautiful.  The refinishing and the installation left no dust.  I'm very happy, and would recommend using Universal Hardwood. <br />"

"I'll start off with a little back story. I originally wanted to purchase from a big box store, but learned that the install process was hit or miss. Some people liked their install experience, others did not. Because of this, I decided to shop local and found Framingham Carpet via Angie's list. Carol and Chuck were excellent to work with. Carol helped match the color we wanted for the install. Turns out it was the same manufacturer as the big box store. A couple days later, Chuck came out to measure carpet, answer questions, and provide a quote on the spot. After purchasing we scheduled the install (about two weeks later). The installers showed up right on-time. They were friendly and explained everything they were going to do and did an excellent job. They left the house as clean as it was before the install. Next time I need to purchase flooring, I will be visiting Framingham Carpet Center!"

"I needed new carpet for a house I'd just bought. I had visited several highly rated carpet shops and the Rug Merchant was by far the best. The team at Rug Merchant spent a great deal of time with me helping me to understand what type of carpet would be best for the spaces. They helped me choose carpet colors/patterns that work together and with my paint. They were also very helpful in identifying lower cost options for my basement. I found it very challenging to get this kind of advice and service from other stores. In addition, the Rug Merchant's prices were very competitive. <br /> The installation team was fantastic too. It was a pleasure to have these guys in my house and they were absolute perfectionists, despite the fact that my house is really challenging (concrete floors, curved walls, etc). <br /> I would highly recommend the Rug Merchant! <br />"

"Amazing work.  Highly recommend if you need  your carpet repaired for any reason.  We had water damage over the winter and had to cut out a significant piece of carpet.  We thought we were going to have to replace the entire second floor since the carpet had been discontinued.  We had a piece left over from the original installation and Jim was able to install it.  Other than a slight color difference on the old vs. the new carpet you cannot tell that the carpet was replaced.  Quite honestly if you didn't know it was replaced you wouldn't notice it at all.   Jim was prompt in returning my calls, was able to come out to give me an estimate fairly quickly.  He showed up on time for the estimate and the day of the job.  Very professional, did a wonderful job.  Very reasonable price for the amount of work that he did.  <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Dover, MA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
