"We have worked with other carpet stores over the years and are fortunate to <br /> have found Carpet Carousel on Angie’s List. We needed to recarpet the upstairs <br /> study which is reached through a “floating” spiral staircase. Both the study <br /> and the treads of the staircase had to use the same material. <br /> <br /> We first had a store we were familiar with take a look. They initially <br /> weren’t sure how they would carpet the treads of the spiral staircase or how <br /> they would move the furniture to carpet the study. I then found Carpet Carousel <br /> on Angie’s List and Shawn came over. He immediately figured how to carpet the <br /> treads and move the furniture. We then visited their show room where Shawn <br /> showed us a number of samples that could work. We took a few with us and made a <br /> decision. In the meantime, we got a quote from the other carpet store and <br /> nearly fell over – it was just about twice the price of Carpet Carousel. <br /> <br /> The installation was excellent. The two men doing the job were punctual <br /> and knew exactly what to do. After the job was done, the area was vacuumed and <br /> the furniture replaced. "We had an outstanding experience with David of Melrose Oriental Carpet Company.  I had used them before to clean and repair a few carpets that had major problems and they pulled through 100%.  One of the carpets was in horrible shape after I tried different solvents to get rid of pet stains and David said that he would try to rewash and apply a coloring process but did not know if it would work. So he said he would try and if I liked the outcome, only then would I pay him. This an unheard of very generous approach, which I appreciated. <br /> <br /> After that great experience, we decided to get all the carpets (a large varied assortment from years of living in Asia) cleaned, moth protected and going to further protect my carpets by getting pads that were suited to the type of carpet and its size and location in the room.  I was again rushing off on another trip. So, David was very responsive and flexible and squeezed me in before I left.  He also did a very detailed job of costing out all the carpets with all the options, so that I could decide what I wanted to do. I thought that the fees were very reasonable as well.  So in summary, I would unanimously recommend Melrose Oriental Company (and they're even family owned for a few generations) for any carpet cleaning or repair needs!"

He also gave us some good advice and we ended up going with a Berber carpet for our busy living room that's been exactly the right choice for us. The crew who showed up to install the carpet was on time, quick, and professional.  <br /> I called Nicky again the day before a big snowstorm. Someone had suggested carpet tubes as a way to keep a toddler busy, and Nicky wasn't at all fazed when I asked if I could have one. He sent over two tubes and even threw in some carpet squares (one of which is 3' x 8' and perfect for my hallway). My son was thrilled to roll his balls and trains down the carpet tubes, and I was thrilled that it kept him entertained when we were snowed in. <br />"

"I have used this company twice to do my carpets and was amazed at how they can get the carpets so clean. I had stains from 5 plus years ago that are now gone. Carpet is 20 years old and looks amazing. Craig did my carpets this time on 12-4-17 and did an awesome job. Very friendly and personable. For the price paid its definitely worth the money. "I purchased remnants to recarpet two bedrooms in a rental property in Reading. The price was reasonable and the service was outstanding. Village Carpet was able to hold the carpet until I was ready for it as some minor construction was being performed and I was not ready for the carpet to be installed. After I scheduled it, the installation was prompt, complete, and professional."

"Less than ideal. The end product looks cheap. The carpet, itself, which was the most expensive option offered, is cheap looking. It was hard to tell in a small swatch, but we are not happy when we see it laid out. The pad is thin (despite asking for the thickest one available). The salesman was very nice and professional but the installation did not go well. There were mistakes that we needed to have fixed by the original crew and then a later crew, and it still doesn't look right. It already has stains that won't come out despite having "stain guard" (only a few weeks after installation). I will likely let the kids tear this carpet up for a year or two and then replace it with a different company."

"We hired Connolly Floors to remove old carpet and refinish hardwood floors in our new house before we moved in. We scheduled them to come in after we'd had some painting done.  <br /> The carpet was mostly properly removed and the floors generally looked great. There were two major issues that kept us from giving an A rating. First, on our staircase there were nails poking out that could have injured someone. There were also still bits of carpet left on the underside of some steps.   <br /> Second, they did not take appropriate care to protect our brand new paint job while they were working - our painter was very upset when he came back after they had finished. Walls were scraped and handprints were left on some walls. The painter had to repaint walls in several rooms to repair the damage. <br /> Connolly Floors did fix the nails on the stairs and deduct $200 from our bill when we complained about these issues. That was a reasonable remedy which covered the extra painting costs we incurred, but we would have been much happier if the problems had not occurred in the first place. <br />"
