"The dispatcher forgot to put me on the morning work order, so the plumber arrived late. Other than that, everything went well. The plumber's estimate for the work was reasonably priced so we proceeded with the repairs. He did the work quickly and took the time to answer all my questions about both device function and town regulations. He measured and adjusted the water pressure on the house side of the RPZ after installation and cleaned the yard where he'd been working. <br /> I also asked him about an old back flow protection device on my sprinkler system. He said it was working fine and recommended against replacing it until if fails. That was actually a test to see if he'd try to perform unnecessary work. He passed with an and quot;Aand quot;. I'll use him again. <br /> <br />"

"After calling all over Austin after the big storm, Efficient Plumbing answered the call. The NEXT morning, Brian arrived and capped a bunch of pipes that had burst. He was totally awesome! He was so nice, professional and thorough. I would definitely hire them again! You should hire them too!"

"Samantha (office admin) had clear, consistent, friendly, and prompt communication and continues to this day. The installation occurred on 03/15/17 with no issues. I never even met the crew as I was out of town during that time. I came home and the gutters were installed and looked great. I was really happy they suggested the leaf screens because in almost a year, I've only needed to get up there once and brush the leaves and sticks away from the gutters. No clogging of leaves (and I have a big red oak that dumps a ton of leaves on my house). I noticed right away that the way the water was moving (or not moving) on the house was an issue (I don't believe this was an installation issue, but rather a house issue). I immediately emailed Samantha about the concern and she said they would come out there and re-evaluate the installation and the gutters. I told her I wanted to wait and see how the gutters performed a little more and she told me to let her know when I wanted Dale to come back out. Well, I learned a lot about my house and drainage and gutters in the last 10 months, and I was having some major drainage issues on the property which was causing a lot of water under my house and shifting in my pier and beam foundation, so I needed to get a drainage system hooked up to the gutters and send the water out to the street (over-simplification but the details don't matter as much). I called Austin Affordable Gutters, and within a few days, Dale was out here, 10 months after install, evaluating what happened and is scheduled with a week to add two more downspouts and a splash guard, free of charge to the house and is willing to communicate with the drainage company regarding coordinating installation to make sense for what they are doing. I can't say enough about Dale, Samantha, and Austin Affordable Gutters- with this whole drainage issue, I felt I was "losing against water", and Dale and Samantha felt like a little win for me. A company that cares about me, even nearly a year later, and how their product performs and is willing to adjust it with no extra cost to me. You have a lot of choices, and I know, as a first time home-buyer, that can be VERY overwhelming. But Samantha, Dale, and Austin Affordable Gutters were definitely the best choice and I would totally choose them again."

"I live in NW hills (much rock) and have a very steep uphill in my backyard bringing water to my house and a very steep downhill in my front yard taking water down the street to the sewers. Having read some mixed reviews, I called the company. They took a little long to come out and a little too long and unresponsive on the initial quote, but it was around the time of Harvey and I knew they were very busy. Neighbors up the hill from us overbuilt their lot and aimed some drainage toward our property which otherwise would possibly have gone elsewhere. Dale Jennings came out and walked the property and discussed our situation. After we received a quote, I had other questions and he came out again to explain. He did explain the jackhammer issue at $125/hour and we did hit rock a couple if times for a total of about 7 hours of rock drilling. Additionally, I did change the scope a couple of times AND added drilling up a heavily rebar filled patio and hauling away the pieces. The more I worked with Dale, the better I felt about his knowledge and honesty. Once the project started, it was flawlessly scheduled. Trucks, equipment, personnel, rock haulers and grass all showed up at exactly the right times to keep productivity going. The crews were respectful and honored our schedule and neighborhood disruption requirements, as well as they kept us informed when they saw a problem, change or need. Although Dale was not present for most of the work, he was aware of everything happening at all times and seemed to review the status at times on the property when we were unaware he had even been on-site. They finished this project on time and given the “scope creep” I added, they were on budget with the only variable being the solid rock unknowns. They were careful of existing shrubs, features and the placement of new drains. In all, ADLD put a swale around 50% of the house, added a number of drains, multiple 4” pipes to carry water to destinations. Additionally, they piped downspouts from the roof to destinations we previously agreed to. Finally, when they replaced the grass on the newly lowered swale areas with the drains, it looked great. My only regret is having to write this very positive report on Dale, the crews and ADLD without any gully washer rainstorms in the last month to what how it works. It rained a small amount and worked perfectly for that. I also have the assurances from Dale that if something doesn’t work in the big rain as expected, he will make certain it’s right. I believe he’s right and the system as built should now handle any water flow that happens. I am entirely satisfied and happy with the work and the guidance and project management that Dale provided. I would certainly recommend their work as it was performed at my house."

"Went great. Chris flushed out all of my septic lines and hydrojetted each one to remove roots. He checked my two valves and added a root killer to pump tank. His price was very fair and my final bill was exactly what I was expecting. He is very knowledgeable about septic systems and always explained what he found and what needed (and why) to be done. I will definitely use him again."

"We have American Home Shield (AHS) and they assigned a company to come out and identify the problem. They speculated that it might be necessary to tear up the tile floor and air hammer out our chisel out concrete to get to the leak. However, it appeared that the leak was around the coupling just as it entered the floor. But it looked like a potentially expensive job and they quoted me $1800 to fix it. When I found out who would do the work and not the "older guy" who came out, I told AHS that I wanted to opt for the $500 cash-out option in my contract. I didn't want their assigned company. I told the company and AHS that I wanted to go direct and get reimbursed. I then began to look for another company that could do this and potentially save some money. I didn't like the idea of a fixed quote of $1800 for something that might not be a big deal. That's when I called Texas APS and their guy, Matt, came out to look at our problem. He looked over the situation and then gave his manager his assessment. Texas APS came back with a quote that was a range of between $750 to $2400, worst case scenario. This was much more appealing than a fixed, worst case scenario quote. Texas APS then sent out their plumbing specialist, Matt. Matt is a cautious, discerning person who carefully deterined that it appeared the crack/leak was only coming from the pipe coupling. This meant it was not below the floor level. He carefully removed the PVC coupling from around the pipe and replaced it with a new coupling and section of large, flexible, black rubber hose. This all worked and solved our problem. He was done in two hours and we saved a lot of money. I'll soon be 70 and over the years I have seen a lot of contractors and when looking for one, you want 1) someone you can trust to do the job right and 2) price it right, price it fairly. Texas APS was that company and and did just that. I have to give credit to Matt who I believe made all the difference in the world. He's a problem solver who cares about the work he does and the customer. The other company has been quoted as saying "AHS is my customer" not the consumer. Texas APS is not affiliated with AHS and only care about the end-user customer. I highly recommend Texas APS if you have a gnarly plumbing problem."

"Christian Hulot Sage, owner of Adept Plumbing, did an excellent job.  Prior to scheduling the appointment, he took time on the phone with me, asked a lot of questions about the job, had me send photos of the area in the garage where the new equipment was to be installed, and followed up with an estimate via email. <br /> He completed the work on time and on budget.   He was efficient, focused, and professional. He also took time to help me source other high-quality plumbing fixtures, e.g., toilets, faucets, etc, at a good price. <br /> I would recommend him and will continue to use his services for all my plumbing needs. <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Dripping Springs, TX

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
