"They weren't forthcoming about additional testing. Base inspection $299 then additional $400+ for lab testing. Wish I had known for vendor comparison purposes. However, I think it was worth it. Owner said the techs need to be instructed to say it was optional, but it helps you better understand the mold your dealing with. Glad I did it but not sure if it could have been done for less."

"Dustin and his team were excellent. We needed help fast and he was knowledgeable, responsive, and educated us on all the possible solutions. The other mold guys either didn’t know how to help us or were pushing super expensive and possibly property damaging treatments. We are so happy with his speed, work and results!!"

"We've had Abide to our home for both asbestos and mold remediation. The first time through, they remediated textured paint on our ceilings and closets; the second pass, they gutted all the exterior walls, which had asbestos-containing dry wall joint compound, and they did so without damaging the ceiling. They also removed all of the mold-containing insulation. The quotes were prompt and reasonable, and the work has been without exception professional and clean. We really appreciate how careful they were and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them."

We offer residential mold inspections, air quality testing for molds and allergens, and radon measurements.\nWe're BBB Accredited and for the past three years have been awarded the BBB Certificate of Customer Satisfaction and Excellence!\nOur mold inspections evaluate both external and internal conditions of your property and identify when there is mold. We utilize air quality sampling and surface sampling to identify the types and concentrations of mold spores using accredited 3rd party laboratories. Our inspections also identify conditions that could cause mold in the future and can save thousands on expensive remediations. In the event of a small mold contamination, we can remediate to return the area to a pre-mold healthy condition. For larger remediations, we can refer you to a number of excellent remediation companies that we work with.\nOur radon measurements use state of the art CRM's (Continuous Radon Monitor) that provide important data on radon levels within the environment. We also offer Electret ion Radon measurements for longer term measurements, or for those looking for a slightly less expensive solution.\nWe're fully insured, certified and licensed and we educate our clients while we go about our business! This has been very well received as we believe our clients want to understand just what they're paying for and it helps prevent future issues.\nCheck out our services offered and call or click to schedule an inspection or measurement today!\n\n

"Gentle man was very nice but really he just stood around and socialized.  He took a quick glance that's it.   This is not what I expected to pay money for. I thought it would be thorough inspection like looking in the crawl spaces and hard to reach places. Instead they take a quick glance. No sample of the air was taken no corners were checked.  I paid $49.00.  I did my research about mold prior to calling them. If I didn't ask more questions, the visit would have taken 5 ...maybe 10 minutes. $49.00 for 5 minutes? <br /> I would give a C for the work but an A for their friendliness."

FAQs for mold & toxic material test projects in Putnam, CT

Some companies offer a no‑cost phone or video consultation that screens for red flags. If the discussion points to a real issue, the pro will recommend a paid on‑site inspection. The complimentary call clarifies whether you need full testing, but it isn’t a substitute for samples, lab work, or a written report. Always confirm what the free service covers before you schedule.

A standard inspection, which includes basic air and surface samples, takes an average of two hours. If the pro needs to probe hidden spaces, such as wall cavities or ductwork, plan on up to six hours. Extra time allows the inspector to reach tight areas, collect additional samples, and document findings. Lab analysis is a separate process and often adds several business days to the overall timeframe before you receive the full report.

Mold thrives where moisture lingers and air flow is poor. Common hotspots include bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes, window sills, HVAC vents, fireplaces, crawl spaces, and enclosed attics. Check these areas regularly—especially after leaks or high‑humidity weather—to catch growth early and avoid costly repairs.

Unchecked mold can knock 20% to 37% off a home’s market value because buyers worry about hidden damage and health risks. Even after remediation, visible staining or a history of major moisture issues can still lower offers and prolong the time on the market. Addressing mold quickly protects both your property’s structural integrity and its resale appeal.
