"Angel came to our home and did multiple jobs including installing a coffered ceiling in our 20 foot double story family room, doing wall paneling, installing crown molding, building built ins in the closet, and installing a back splash in our kitchen. He is incredibly professional and willing to work with whatever ideas you might have. He went above and beyond and found scaffolding for our tall ceilings which others weren't willing to do. He allowed our painters and electricians to use this as well which ultimately saved us costs in other parts of our project. His quotes are fair and he is always quick to respond. He spent two hours with us helping us design what we wanted and his work was impeccable and completed on time as promised. I would highly recommend him to anyone."

"I contracted with Quality Improvements to build a large deck. The build site is on rough sloping terrain. Mr Mariano Siles oversaw the project and in fact did most of the work. He was very personable and patient in explaining to me the challenges and his proposed solutions. His exceptional attention to detail resulted in a beautiful 400sf deck built to code and absolutely level. I would enthusiastically recommend Quality Improvements to anyone."

Customers say: Quick response

"I had carpet installed in all the upstairs areas in my home. Azza and his team did an excellent job of installing the carpet. They arrived on time and completed the job in one day. Azza is friendly and easy to work with. Another plus for this company, Azza's bid for the job was substantially lower than those received from other contractors."

"We have used Mr. Rorer's company for a few years and have been very satisfied with his work. In the past he has repaired our roof, replaced the gutter guards, installed drainage pipes around the exterior of our house and pressure-washed the house. Called him for an estimate on renovation of our powder room. He explained what labor was included in the price as well as the amount of time to complete the job. He arrived to start the job on time. He put on protective shoe covering when he entered our house and he proceeded directly to the powder room and immediately got to work. Installation of the items was completed in a reasonable time. Overall he was very conscientious, dependable and charged a reasonable price. We always trust him to give us the best service."

"Alex was FANTASTIC! He helped us design our kitchen layout and made recommendations. He never tried to oversell us and was very frank...which I have a GREAT appreciation for! He was at the house when the cabinets were being delivered and stopped in during installation. If you have concerns or aren't entirely happy with something he will make it right as quickly as possible. We have worked with a number of contractors and no one has come close to his level of customer service. He even brought us a bottle of wine and cheese when it was finished:)"

"

First I worked with Tea and George to design the unit.  (Tea mostly does the design; George does the construction.)  They came out to my house to discuss the project and take measurements.  I paid $150 to have Tea work up a computer-aided design.  The design fee went toward the finished unit.  We went back and forth a couple of times, and Tea offered her suggestions as well as carefully listening to mine.  I was very happy with the results and decided to move forward with the project. I paid 50% up front, and 50% upon installation. Tea and George came out to the house again to take final measurements before the build and install.

I was responsible for ensuring that some duct work got extended (so that it could come out the base of the cabinet), an electrical outlet and cable box got moved, and desired wall painting occurred prior to the installation.  I was also responsible for selecting and obtaining the knobs that were used on the cabinet doors.  And I visited the Art Woodstone Studio to pick from a number of glass samples that I had picked and Tea had obtained.  There I was able to see my built-in in progress and some of George's and Tea's other beautiful art work.  (Definitely go to the studio... well worth the trip to Manassas!)

Tea and George were so easy to work with.  They were extremely responsive, very punctual for appointments, very open to my ideas, and addressed all of my concerns.  They also finished the entire project much faster than I had anticipated, so I was able to have my new built-in for the holidays.  Furthermore, when they came to do final measurements, we had to change the design because I had discovered one of the vent ducts was a return and could not be extended to come out the base of the cabinet (and still work properly). Tea proactively re-worked the design so that it would still appear balanced, and the results were better than I had hoped.

The installation occurred over two days.  The first day Tea and George dropped off some of the materials.  The second day they were hard at work from morning to late afternoon and completed the installation.  They were very careful to protect my wood floors, and removed all trash and vacuumed up all debris.

The results are fabulous.  The built-in, mantel and mirror are all beautiful.  I couldn't be happier.  This was an expensive project for me, but was well worth the investment -- truly an example of you get what you pay for.  George is a talented cabinet maker and artist, and I am proud to own a piece of furniture that he made.  I highly recommend Art Woodstone Studio, and I would employ their services again in a heartbeat.

"All work done professionally and in a timely manner. Project started with a thorough powerwashing of existing deck, rails, supports. Badly warped and/or splintered decking and rail top replaced with new, pressure-treated lumber. Old wood power-sanded then hand- painted with clear stain finish. Attention to detail was excellent; perfection is the standard of this company."

FAQs for baseboard installation projects in Dumfries, VA

Installing crown molding can be challenging, depending on the material and your skill level. Lightweight materials like polystyrene and softwoods are easier for homeowners to install themselves, offering a cost-saving option. However, heavier materials like hardwoods and plaster are difficult to work with and require professional installation to achieve a high-quality result. Precision is crucial in measuring, cutting, and fitting crown molding, so hiring a professional ensures the best outcome.

Crown molding is available at various price points, ranging from $1 to $30 per linear foot, depending on the material. This wide range offers options for every budget. Affordable materials like MDF, PVC, and polystyrene provide cost-effective solutions, while premium materials like exotic hardwoods or metal offer a luxurious appearance at a higher cost. Regardless of your budget, you can find crown molding that enhances your home's aesthetic.

Crown molding is installed by professional finish carpenters or painters who specialize in detailed trim work. These experts possess the necessary skills and tools to ensure precise measurements, accurate cuts, and seamless installation. By hiring a professional, you can achieve a flawless finish that enhances your home's aesthetic appeal without the risk of common DIY mistakes.

Crown molding can be installed in various areas of your house to add elegance and architectural interest. It is commonly used where walls meet the ceiling, but you can also place crown molding around doors, windows, mirrors, and atop cabinets. Installing crown molding in these locations enhances visual appeal, creates a cohesive design, and adds a touch of sophistication to your home's interior.

To determine how much crown molding to purchase, start by measuring the length of each wall where you plan to install crown molding and add the measurements together to determine the total linear feet required. Purchase an extra 10% of material to account for waste from cutting angles and to ensure seamless joints by using full-length pieces when possible. Including additional material helps avoid shortages and ensures a smooth installation process.

For a professional crown molding installer, this task takes about 1 to 3 hours per room, depending on size and complexity. Factors like the material, design intricacy, and number of corners can affect the time. If you're doing it yourself, expect it to take longer as you get the hang of measuring and cutting precise angles. Advanced measuring and planning or hiring a pro can help the project go smoothly.
