"JC and his team did an excellent job replacing our privacy fencing. They were on time each day and completed with with on schedule. There was clear communication before and during the work being done. The quality of the work and professionalism of the team is outstanding. I will be hiring JC again in the near future to replace the remainder of our fencing."

"The estimate process back in March 2017 was fine. Guy showed up on time and estimate was given in a timely fashion. We were told in advance that they were several weeks out with the schedule and that once we accepted and signed a contract in May, that we would be scheduled for some time in June. June came and went, no call. I contacted them via email the first part of July and was told "someone would be there today" which for us is unacceptable. We have dogs, my husband needed to install a temporary fence. We require at least a day or two notice for that. So we agreed on July 17th. We got up early on the 17th and no call, no repairman. I called the owner around 10am and got a message saying they were on vacation and that the business was basically closed, that no calls would be returned until July 24th. Also, the voice mail said they'd been having email problems. We had not been notified of any cancellation nor had we been notified of the time to expect the repairman on the 17th. So at that point, we figured nobody was going to show up and went on to do other things as my husband had changed his work schedule, we had to make the most of time. Then a guy showed up at 11am. While we are thankful they guy showed up, we are not impressed with the level of communication from the owner/manager. The repairman, Calvin, he was wonderful though. He did very good work and we are satisfied with the completed job."

"The Fence Work team did an excellent job replacing two portions of our wood fence and creating a double gate on one side and a single gate on the other. It all went very well and we definately would hire them again."

"M&P Fencing was wonderful to work with from start to finish. I wanted a fence style that was a little different from a traditional picket fence. They paid attention to the smallest details to ensure I got the fence I wanted. The end result was a well-built, beautiful fence that exceeded my expectations."

"I had been having problems with both gate doors that were installed at my house since moving in. I called Edgar to take a look at them and he was able to figure out the issue immediately. He repaired both with such ease. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to install or repair a fence. He is fantastic!"

FAQs for projects in Durham, NC

No, installing a privacy fence isn't rude as long as you respect property boundaries and comply with local regulations. By building the fence entirely on your property and following zoning codes, you're creating a safe space without causing offense. Informing your neighbors before building your fence can also help maintain good relationships.

A privacy fence should be between six and eight feet tall to offer clear privacy and security. This height range provides an effective barrier that meets both design and safety standards. It gives your property a balanced appearance while protecting your space without encroaching on your neighbor's area. Be sure to check your local building codes, as regulations may limit the maximum allowable height.

A professional can install a privacy fence in about 20 to 30 hours, while doing it yourself might take 40 to 50 hours. Factors like obtaining permits, preparing the site, and leveling the ground can affect the installation time. Additional tasks like removing an old fence or dealing with uneven terrain may also extend the project duration.

Yes, horizontal fences are more expensive than vertical ones, but offer enhanced durability and a modern look. Their design often requires more materials and can result in a stronger structure with better resistance to weather conditions. If you're looking for superior longevity and a stylish appearance, the extra investment in a horizontal fence may be worthwhile.

Yes, hiring a land surveyor is important because it confirms your exact property boundaries. This step helps prevent costly encroachment issues and legal disputes by ensuring that your fence is built entirely on your property. An accurate survey guarantees compliance with local zoning laws, facilitates a smooth installation process, and helps maintain good relations with your neighbors.
