"After a concrete redo around our pool, the pool had lots of concrete dust, bits of concrete, etc. in it. Brian worked very hard to clean it up. It was a huge task, but he got the job done!"

Gil Simmers Tractor Service

"I found Gil on a local service posting site (not AL) since I could not find anyone on AL for this type of work. He uses his tractor for a variety of common tasks including bush hogging, grading (box blade), post hole digging, front end loader work, etc. Gil promptly responded to my emailed inquiry and quoted me a price based on a screenshot of the area off Wake County GIS maps that I had marked up.

He arrived promptly on time, and was extremely personable and easy to talk to. He did a VERY thorough job with the work. I know that may sound weird to say that someone 'thoroughly cut the grass' but I have had this same area bush hogged several years in a row by other people, and Gil by far did the best job yet. Add in the fact that he is a pleasant guy all around, and shows up when he says he will, and you can't go wrong using him for a job!

I will use Gil again. As a matter of fact, I already have! I will post another review for that service as well."

"Jim did a great job installing the wiring and the connectors both outside the house as well as in the circuit breaker panel. He also replaced some breakers that weren't up to code and handled the permit and inspection as well. Only thing that wasn't perfect was a part that was misordered by his supplier but he handled that as quickly as possible. He was patient with me trying to work around my schedule when I could be there and answered any questions I had. I will definitely use him for any other electrical projects I have in the future."

"Fred shaved off about 1/8" of the door width so it would fit the opening, he notched out the back and installed the 3 hinge plates, cut the hole and installed the door knob and installed the finished door. Everything looks great and it fits and functions perfectly! We actually had 2 other "carpenters" attempt it before and both ruined the doors we supplied. Fred did it right the first time... he was great at communicating and showed up on time. Highly recommended!"

FAQs for swimming pool remodeling projects in Durham, NC

You can modernize your pool by adding features like underwater LED lighting, mosaic tiles, or a beach entry for easy access. Incorporating amenities like fire pits, waterfalls, or installing energy-efficient equipment can also give your pool a contemporary upgrade.

To make your pool more energy-efficient, consider resurfacing it with a lighter color to reduce heating needs and evaporation. Installing a variable-speed pump can significantly lower energy consumption. Switching to low-energy LED lights not only saves power but also enhances ambiance. Additionally, updating old plumbing pipes can improve efficiency and reduce water loss.

A pool remodel typically takes between four and eight weeks to complete. The exact duration depends on factors such as the size of your pool, the complexity of the renovations, and the availability of materials and contractors. Planning ahead and coordinating with a professional pool remodeler can help ensure your project stays on schedule.

Remodeling your pool can be a worthwhile investment, especially if you plan to sell your home. A pool remodel can increase your property's value and enhance its appeal to potential buyers. Upgrades like modern finishes, energy-efficient systems, and added features like lighting or fountains can transform an outdated pool into a backyard oasis.

Resurfacing a pool involves applying a new finish to the existing surface to address cosmetic issues and minor structural concerns. Replastering is a more extensive process that replaces a deeper layer of the pool's structural base, impacting both stability and appearance. After replastering, you can choose from various finishes to enhance the design and longevity of your pool.
