"I called the office, they estimated it would cost under $500 to do the routine maintenance. Sure enough, they charged quite a bit more and I ended up paying $800 after all was said and done. I would go with a cheaper place in the future, especially after speaking to neighbors about how much they paid for their Cesspool maintenance....I definitely overpaid. The crew was nice and did a good job though."

"E & M came for an estimate and diagnosed the problem promptly. No sales pitch or lengthly discussion, just explained that foundation cracks had to be repaired in the backyard behind the basement, they needed to excavate and fill in the dirt. They charged 1/4 of what the previous company charged to dig trenches and install a sump pump which didn't totally keep the boiler room dry. After living in the house for 20 years the boiler room has stayed dry finally, no need for a handyman to repair anything after their work either! They accepted the Angie's List coupon. Several rainstorms later: fantastic price and great result only wish I had found them sooner."

"I was very pleased with Ron. I called him the night before because i was unable to use any water in my house. My pipes were backed up. He promised he would be to my house by 8am the next morning. He showed up early. My family and I were so grateful. He fixed the problem in no time. He was very informative on what the problem was. We have been having problems on and off for awhile and now we cant prevent from having that problem again. He was very reasonably. We were worried it was going to be too much money, but it wasn’t. Very friendly and very happy to finally have a plumber."

"hBS originally installed my pumps and has serviced them. As part of my recent service, the technician (Justin) noted that one of my pumps was end of life. He was very descriptive regarding the nature of the problem and educating me as to my options. I opted to replace the pump which he did same day. He kept me informed every step of the way. Good experience. I can’t comment on pricing bc I did not ask anyone else to bid the work but the cost seemed reasonable in light of the work."

"<p>I found them on Angie's List. He made an appointment, showed up on time and his price was right. He suggested the larger, rather than the smaller-sized gutters and showed the proper reason why we should buy that. He suggested gutter guard, the little screen things that go on top, because we have a lot of trees in the area. He justified the reason for it and the price he was charging. The price was very reasonable. We did about 70 feet worth of gutter work, removed the old and installed the new with new caps and everything else at under $700.   </p>"

"Dan Bozzo and his crew did an excellent job at every stage. It took a total of two days, they started the job within a week, and arrived promptly as agreed. The demolition and drywall crew worked so cleanly on the room. They tarped off anything that needed it, even outside the two bedrooms. They cleaned as they went, and worked with the doors closed, so the rest of the house wasn’t covered in dust and debris. They also did an amazing job with the taping and spackling. Again, clean and quick. The ceilings all came out beautiful and we would definitely use them again, and recommend them to friends."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in East Hampton, NY

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
