"Mitch, the owner came out and discussed ideas and had many pictures of his work. I appreciated how he worked around my schedule and was always on time.  <br /> He helped with the layout, design and color ideas of the paver blocks. His crew came in and removed the existing concrete patio and dug and prepped the foundation for the new patio. We also had him construct a gas fire pit as well. The fire pit required that a gas line and upgraded gas meter be installed as well. Mitch took the lead on these task as well and coordinated the contractors and efforts required. All the work was detailed and finished on schedule.  <br /> The professionalism of Mitch and his crew were a breath of fresh air in today's world of poor contractors.   <br /> We are very happy with the results."

"Brian came over after we had talked with several contractors about a concrete porch underside (in basement room) and one of those contractors made us think the concrete was in such a bad state of "imminent failure" that it needs a full replacement. So, while we continued to get quotes for a full replacement, we also asked a retired architect friend to give his opinion. He did not think concrete was so bad and he was glad we were having a structural engineer (Brian) coming over a few days later. Brian explained why he did not think the concrete was in need of full replacement (very expensive!) and also the damage was not a foundation/structure integrity issue (not "imminent failure"). We had spoken to several contractors and the cost to fully replace is upwards of 15-20 thousand dollars. From the state of the concrete, Brian did not believe the "symptoms" warranted a full replacement and that the more likely issue was simply that we never "sealed" the concrete with epoxy (and only painted the concrete porch). Given the sky-rocketing costs to do any home repairs, it seems more reasonable for us to do first level repair (not replace) that Brian suggests. Brian's honest and informative consultation (for free!!!) is piece of mind and a HUGE savings. We greatly appreciate Brian coming over to educate us - on his own dime. We will definitely ask Brian to come over again if/when we think we need an honest assessment of our home foundation needs."

"I met with Paul. He came to our home two days after calling. Was right on time. We had work done back in the fall by another company and we were not happy with the work that had been done. The previous company had built out a concrete ledge that they said was necessary to keep the basement dry. It was a 12"x 12" step that projected from the floor and looked awful. We were told this was the only way to handle our wet walls. Paul was very honest and said although it was ugly and unnecessary, there was no work for him to do. He went over the method he would have used but said he did not feel comfortable redoing the job because he felt like he was not correcting anything other than this massive step out and was taking money that wasn't necessary. He told me to save our money. I very much appreciated his honesty and will definitely be calling him back with any basement concerns!!!!"

"We thought we needed foundation work. They not only told us that was incorrect. They directed us to a structural engineer who would be able to help us. No charge. Most appreciated."

"I found Kevon Binder and Walter Brown to be quite professional and very polite. They explained what they were doing and why, They covered their shoes as well as putting a trap of sorts in front of the fireplace to prevent soot from getting on my floor. If I need any further assistants with my fireplace I will definitely call and request them. Thank You very much for your help. Wendy Graczyk 120 Kilkenny Dr. Onsted MI 49265"

"Michael's team provided documentation and confirmations beforehand <br /> He arrived on-time and listened to our interests and purpose of the visit <br /> After physically walking through the structure and taking notes, he provided a quick review of what he found answering questions <br /> About 2 days later, the written report arrived backing up his initial analysis and giving us documentation from a pro <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in East-springfield, OH

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
