"Very happy we had Contek repair and remodel our living room. Started with a prompt visit by Corey and a detailed quote shortly after, and we then got on their schedule about 6 weeks later. Job consisted of removing and repairing a large area of the ceiling that was water damaged, removing a 9' picture window and also repairing water damage around that, refinishing that with two smaller double-hung windows, refinishing it all inside and outside, and lastly converting a standard small doored closet into an open mudroom closet. Dan managed the job and was nothing but a complete pleasure to work with. Shawn and crew did the vast majority of the work and were also a pleasure to work with. We did have a few finishing items we weren't initially satisfied with, but I'm only saying this because they made it very clear that they wanted us to be COMPLETELY satisfied, and to tell us of any concerns. Dan really went above and beyond here, and he and the crew addressed each of our concerns. It really was a pleasure having the Contek team work on our home, and now we have a living room we can't wait to show off."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Overall good job repairing the cement apron to my garage. Job was rescheduled a few times for various reasons, but since it's been completed I've had no problems with cracking or chipping. The color is not quite as white as the original cement, but other than that I have no complaints at all."

"Chris and his guys did a tremendous job creating and constructing the steps to my front porch and my backyard patio. They were fun to work with, courteous, punctual, and focused. Chris and I designed the patio together, and it looks absolutely beautiful! I highly recommend Scenic Walkways and use them for all of my hard scaling exclusively."

"WOW... a contractor who is Reasonably Priced, Reliable, Communicative (stays in touch before, during and after the job) and PLEASANT TO DEAL WITH... this represents Lifetime Concrete. I live out of town and contracted with them (Brian - owner) to have existing porch steps and underlying pavement demolished and replaced for a family member in the Northampton, PA area. I can easily say that my experience with Brian and Jessica (Lifetime Concrete company coordinator who hand held me all the way thru the job) was one of the best "contractor experiences" I have ever had!! Imagine... a contractor who doesn't miss commitments, has no "surprises" and does quality work and who I HIGHLY recommend."

"I am very pleased. They came out on time. It rained a few hours after application and a few spots didn't look good after a few days. They came out again, inspected and applied a second coat of sealer over entire driveway."

"Arlan and his team were great to deal with from the start... They were quick to come out and see my chimney to give me the estimate and then when I picked them for the job, then were out in no time to complete the work."

"We have used Plantique for three major (and difficult) projects over the past two years. Each project was very complex (one involved a pool) and we couldn't be happier with the end result as well as the entire experience of working with the Plantique team. From the initial office contact and consult, to clean up and the finished product, the staff and crew were pleasant, accommodating, professional, responsive, and honest. Mike Wimmer was our design consultant both times, and he knew how to troubleshoot and correct any issues while creating an impressive and beautiful design that fit our lifestyle and needs. He is such a great talent and so easy to work with, as was the crew on site. These gentleman were so hard-working and always so gracious. It has been such a pleasure working with Plantique and I look forward to a long relationship with them for all our future landscaping and maintenance needs. I highly recommend them to family, friends, and colleagues, and have recently consulted them to help my parents with a landscaping project. So very, very happy with Plantique!"

"Showed up on time for the initial work, pleasant attitude, no problems that day. Returned two days later (Friday) to lay the sod on the yard and stated they would return Tues or Wed to patch the driveway. They didn't show up or call. I called the primary company on Thursday to find out what was going on. Recieved call back Friday that now Advanced Excavating wouldn't be out until the following Monday or Tuesday. They didn't show or call again. This whole time I have a muddy (from watering the sod) ditch in my front yard and dont' have the use of my driveway. They finally showed up that Thursday while I was at work to do the patch. Driveway looks ok, but then they left cones blocking the patched part off. No instructions as to when I could use the driveway etc. I called on Monday to find out when I could use my driveway again. No call back, no communication again. They finally showed the following Friday and picked up the cones. It was a very frustrating experience for me. A little communication could have made it better. Weather wasn't a factor as we had quite a streak of lovely weather during that time. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in East-texas, PA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
