"Gary, the install tech, was great. He arrived on time, was professional, and went above and beyond to ensure everything was done right and I was satisfied. He installed a new radon pipe, and ensured the clamps were not directly against the house and the top of the pipe was properly away from the gutter. After the pipe was installed I noticed a rattling noise coming from the motor...Gary checked it and cleaned out debris multiple times until the noise was gone. You could tell Gary takes pride in his work and wanted to do the job right the first time (I feel like you don't see this very often). A job well done."

"Chris was already at the house when I arrived at the appointed time. He explained the process and as we proceeded with the inspection he patiently and thoroughly described any issues he encountered. We were joined by John, the owner of the company, who performed some specific inspections and also provided thorough explanations. We were also joined by Rocky who JMR contracted to do the pest inspection. The inspection was thorough. Some of the tests required a few days to process, but I received most of the results the following day and the full results in 2 days. The reports were delivered in PDF files that were well organized, thorough and easy to understand. Overall I'm very pleased with their professionalism and diligence."

"Rick came in and explained everything very well. We discussed the options for where to install my mitigation system, and he made sure I understood the details before I made any decisions. On the day of the work, his crew were terrific, and even took it in stride when they were attacked by wasps from a nest near the outside installation site. The price for the work was competitive, and the job was completed on budget. As noted above, the results of the post-mitigation radon test clearly show that the job was a total success. <br />"

"I waited a month before getting a test kit I called and was told there was something wrong with the Angies list orders but that I would be receiving a kit soon. It wouldve ben nice if they called me to tell me that though. The test results were quick and on par with other radon test I had done locally."

"I have contracted this company for two home inspections, wood destroying insect inspections, and a radon test. Problems from our first home inspection prevented us from purchasinga home which had serious electrical concerns (knob and tube wiring hidden in insulation). I would absolutely recommend them. The report is delivered electronically the same day as the inspection."

"I picked this company based on the reviews on Angie's List and also on the fact that they do Sunday inspections.  The company was very professional from the outset and the woman I spoke to on the phone was very friendly.  They emailed me confirmation of our appointment and items included in the service.  I called a couple days later to add a few water tests.  George arrived on time and did a very thorough job - four hours.  He was kind and informative, and I felt immediate relief after the first 5 minutes of our encounter with him.  I could tell that he knew exactly what he was doing.  The inspection lasted from 10 am to 2:30 pm or so and I received the report by email by noon the next day.  Radon air test report was emailed to me prior to the inspection.  Water test results were emailed to me the day after the inspection.  I appreciated that the company arranged to perform these tests in advance of the inspection as the results take several days to return, and I had a tight window until contract.  I would highly recommend this company. <br />"

"IndoorDoctor provides thorough, professional, and fast service. Everything about this company is outstanding. A+++! My experience with IndoorDoctor started with John on the phone, who did a great job answering all of my questions and describing the testing process. Jeff arrived at my home that same week to do the testing. He is very knowledgeable and excelled at explaining everything to me and answering my questions, all while efficiently performing tests around the house. Jeff offered several recommendations during his visit and within a day he provided a detailed, understandable report of all the findings. The report included a phased approach to addressing the problems. This made the whole thing less overwhelming to me, and a whole lot less expensive than if I'd gone directly to a remediation company. Even though it has been several weeks, Jeff is still available (and happy) to answer my emails. IndoorDoctor does testing, not remediation, so there is no conflict of interest. The testing is all performed expertly and scientifically yet the results are written in a way that anyone can understand. In all interactions, Jeff makes me feel like my home and health are important to him. He has been friendly, efficient, and able to articulate the problems/findings in a way that make sense to me. He has been an ally to help me through what is often a confusing process. Long story short, Jeff's recommendations are working and my health is improving as a direct result of his work. :-) I strongly recommend getting the Indoor Doctor for expert assistance with your indoor environment. This company is the best."

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Easthampton, MA

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
