I found that very honest of him, because saying that opened up the possibility that we'd forgo the repair and replace the whole roof instead. "I initially contacted the company last year in September/October about icicles forming on part of the roofline of our home. Being over 60 years old, I also wanted to get a quote on the LeafGuard product, particularly for the second story gutters as I'm not too thrilled about cleaning them out up at that height. The salesman who came out identified the icicle issue as being caused by inadequate insulation in the crawlspace of that part of the home. He also looked at the other part of attic where we had had foam insulation blown in a number of years ago. He said that it had been very poorly done and should be selectively re-applied to give a better overall insulation to the home. He took extensive measurements on both the insulation job and the gutters. He said he'd be back in touch with a quote "very soon". "Very soon" stretched into three weeks with no word, so I called and asked him what was with the delay. He said he would be hand delivering the estimate by week's end. Well...that didn't happen either. After another two weeks I sent him an email and left word by phone that I wanted the quote. I never heard from the guy. I was going to blow the company off and write a bad review on Angie's List, but thought that it may just be the salesman, not the company. So I drove the 25 miles to their business and asked to speak to the owner. He was very apologetic for the situation and said he would have a different salesman call me within the day. And before I got back to my home, Jim Moran was calling to see when he could come out to look at the job. Jim was out the following day as I recall, and had to totally remeasure the jobs so that he could quote it. The quote was in my hands by the end of the day! Now this was more like it. The price for the services was a bit of a shocker, but I was now getting good service. The crews who did both of the jobs were very professional. They arrived as scheduled. They were pleasant, worked quickly, with great care not to cause damage to the property or leaving behind any mess. The day after the gutters were installed we got a real cloudburst that delivered about 2" of rain in a very short period of time. The gutters were working extremely well except in one area. I took a brief video of the gutter overflowing and sent it to my saleman. The next day the installers were back out and re-engineered that area to solve the issue (or at least I think it is...I'll have to wait for another downpour to find out). I could not be more pleased with both of the jobs that Bauer Specialty completed for us."

"The quoting process went quickly and was sort of fun, and we made multiple changes during the process including a whole front porch project right in the middle. Dave and Brad were great to work with and extremely accommodating throughout the entire process. Special requests did not upset them, this is rare in a contractor because it throws off their scheduling. We had tiny fixes along the way and those were taken care of promptly making the finished product beautiful and secure.
We had colors picked and pictures of features from other projects we wanted to incorporate and Dave just "made it happen" as close to budget as possible. We enjoyed having him and the crew around, just really great people. There were a few design issues and communication problems that were worked out quickly and to our satisfaction. The pricing was terrific. For way less than what we had done another company quoted us double on just the windows and siding, we saw projects that the higher priced company did in a friends home, we were NOT impressed by either the workmanship or the products. We bought Certainteed Siding, 6 White triple pane Lynnfield replacement windows, 3, triple pane, Sherwood replacement windows in the original interior framing of the house that we just love.  The front door has a custom exterior color and the interior color matches the frame work, and the trim was replaced.
Dave is a real pro in getting your ideas to sync with the materials and suggesting ways to stay within your budget by recommending alternatives. Not a lot of contractors can do that. Not a lot of contractors will or care to do that for a customer. I don't know what else I can say, except that Dave was here again today to quote more projects and Brad fixed a small winterization problem with a piece of siding, so I wanted to leave this review that is way over due.
As for the looks of the project you can judge for yourself from the attached pictures, which I also posted last year on facebook.. If you see Dave's home show display you will see our project on the big screen. We have been stopped by neighbors and UPS and US mail carriers, and people from all over to comment on how beautiful the house turned out, even without any landscaping in place.
