"I purchased the hardwood laminate shortly after closing on my house, with the hopes of my husband installing over the weekends. This was rather ambitious considering that we were trying to renovate several other areas of the house. After seeing that my poor husband would not have time to do everything, I started looking to outsource the floor installation.
First, I turned to Craigslist. That was a joke. The first person I contacted quoted me $3500 for 4 rooms - and keep in mind, I had already purchased the flooring! The second person I contacted on Craigslist cancelled our first meeting and then didn't show to our second to provide an estimate.
I got on Angie's List and found Carpet Designs (they had all As). I sent an internet inquiry on Wednesday evening, and on Thursday morning recieved a call. Thursday afternoon, Dwayne showed up and gave me an estimate of $2200. I was SO impressed with him that when I called to get them to start working, I added the hallway and the living room to the list of rooms where flooring could be put down.
Carpet Designs went straight to work and finished ahead of schedule. Dwayne took my call (and texts) - and he knew exactly what was going on in my house and was friendly when I had questions or requests. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I will use them for any flooring needs that I have in the future.

"

"Our purple carpet had about 100 urine stains from previous dogs and our own. The specialist, Robert, matched to color and treated every spot. If we didn't know where they were, we'd never know they spots had been there. Perfect job!"

"Went very well. Floor had been installed a few years back by someone who obviously didn't know what they were doing. Did not have an uncoupling membrane and tile and grout were cracking and deteriorating. Took a little longer than originally planned due to unexpected moisture issues, which were corrected. Quality of workmanship is excellent and result is exactly what I was looking for. I expect that this floor will hold up where the previously installed one did not. Would definitely recommend and use again.
"

"We visited their showroom, where we selected the floor that we thought would work. They suggested a few more for us to consider, then insisted that we take the samples home to judge them against the room conditions. The next day Mr. McNair came to our home to measure the rooms and set the installation appointment. The installers were punctual, courteous and professional. They removed the 20+ year old carpet (took it with them), cleaned the concrete floor (even added an enzyme solution to pet urine areas that had soaked into the floor), installed the new floor, and also added the shoe molding that we purchased. They moved furniture when necessary (we did most of it before they came).
After the second room was complete, my wife noticed that a small amount of the floor glue was on the surface of the new floor. She called them to ask them how to clean it, but instead- within minutes- they were back to take care of the problem and to show her exactly what to do if the problem came back.
If you want a flooring job done right the first time, you absolutely cannot go wrong with McNair. This is the second time we have used them and, if we need more flooring in the future, we definitely will call them.
"

"My experience with No Drip had both very good and very bad elements.

First, the Pros: No Drip responded quickly to my request for estimate and, to their credit, was the only one of the three companies who saw fit to get back with me in a reasonable amount of time with an estimate after visting my home. The now-completed roof and gutters also appear to be installed with quality.

Now, the Cons: It was a full THREE WEEKS after No Drip first committed to installing my roof before they actually came and completed the work. I had shingles piled high in my driveway over two weeks before the workers came to install them. On three separate days, No Drip promised to come out and begin installation and never showed up before finally coming the fourth time.

The worst part of the experience was after the roof was finally installed. Keep in mind it took them three weeks longer than originally promised to actually install the roof. However, once the roof was installed No Drip acted like the Mafia trying to get their payment. I was out-of-town on the day when the roof was actually finished and was in meetings away from my cell phone. When I checked messages, No Drip had called no fewer than SEVEN times demanding payment in just a few hours. When I finally called them back, I told them I would be back in town in two days and would mail them a check for the full amount upon my return (which I did). On the day I mailed the check (same day I told them I would), a No Drip worker showed up unannounced at my house at seven at night while I was working late and upset my wife tremendously demanding payment. She called me at work and said the No Drip worker demanded payment NOW. After acting like paying them via check was fine on the front end (they gave me a small discount for doing so and no insurance was involved in my new roof), they then proceded to treat my like I had and quot;stolen a roofand quot; from them despite the fact I told them that I was out-of-town and would immediately mail a check upon my return, which I did.

No Drip demonstrated no timeliness at all when it came to putting on my roof on the day they committed to, but once the roof was installed, I was almost waiting for them to demand payment from me at gunpoint.

The sum of my experience was quality work, but ZERO professionalism."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Edwards, MS

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
