"Very nice, but quality was lacking. I knew a seam would be present, but it was placed at the bottom of the stairs. This is the first thing I saw when coming down the stairs. Door was taken off and never put back on. Old padding not removed from closet, new carpeting was placed right over. I know this doesn’t seem like a big deal, but I had water damage. So, I wanted old padding taken out. When done, didn’t bother the sweep the carpet. All the little carpet pieces were left behind. Other installers, always cleaned up after themselves."

"The dimples in the carpet are history. It looks much better. My only criticisms are: a small chunk of carpet is missing next to a baseboard and they put a small chip in an adjoining room's ceramic tile. The latter happened because they did not place anything under their heavy "machinery"."

"The repair and cleaning was completed in a timely fashion. Since, we ordered the covers ourselves, he return on another day to do the installation. Company was very accommodating and communication via email or phone was reliable. We are very pleased with the work and will be using him again. Addition: Jim returned to install the two gutter covers as promised on Saturday, 10/17/20. We were waiting for the wasps to leave their nest before installing the last two covers. Job paid in full previously, so no charge for this."

"I had the best experience with them. I needed carpet in a rental unit <br /> that I own. I talked to their sales person Marc Pitcoff, he was <br /> excellent. He did the measurements himself, he suggested the type of <br /> carpet and padding that would be appropriate, he suggested way for me to <br /> save money (ripping out the old stuff myself). He handled it like  I <br /> would expect a professional to do. <br /> The only bad part was I had to wait about a week for installation, but it was done when he said an <br /> took only the one day to do that was promised. i see others had a bad <br /> experiance with the salespeople there, I have only dealt with Marc and <br /> can only talk about him, <br />"

"We initially went to Craft Rug Mills after having a problem with another carpet company who we had a problem with. Craft Mills has an excellent selection of high quality carpeting from name brands. They also have a large selection of remnants, one of which we chose for our daughter's bedroom. My only issue with the remnants is that they do not know the specific brand or type or carpet of the remnants, so you kind of take your chances, but the price, it's a really good deal. We chose two higher end name brands for our master bedroom and home office. <br /> We only had one snag with Craft Mills and that was when it came to the installation price that was quoted. The gentleman we were dealing with made a math error and gave us a price that we were very happy with and gave them a deposit right away. When the installer came out to measure, the price suddenly jumped. We had a little bit of a discussion, as it wasn't the price we agreed upon, and it turned out that there was no way they could give us that price. We agreed to meet half way, and it was still an excellent price and their installation was top-notch Eight months later we're still very happy with our carpet and happily recommend Craft Mills. <br /> We even called them to ask if they knew someone who could clean an antique persian rug and they recommended a local gentleman who showed up the same day, took our rug, cleaned it and returned it less than a week later! Again, excellent service. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Effort, PA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
