"One thing I liked was that measurements were taken by both the sales rep and the head installer. A previous experience with a big-box store helped me appreciate this service. (The big-box store sent a crew twice to measure for doors and did it wrong both times.) An installment date was scheduled, the crew arrived promptly as promised, and worked quickly. The installment was done in November and the crew did their best to have windows exchanged as quickly as possible to minimize loss of heat at the openings. the patio door took a little longer and the crew put up plastic sheets over the opening to cut down on heat loss. They cleaned up after themselves and worked cleanly. No mess was left behind. <br /> The crew was professional, worked efficiently, and the finished work looked good. In the time since the windows were installed, the house has felt warmer during the winter months. I would be willing to do business here again."

"Working with Dave and his crew was an excellent experience. They provided top notch service and explanation of the process involved. Our garage floor had over 40 years of road salt and chemical from Illinois winters. The floor had a couple of large cracks and a significant area of pitting and wear from the limestone in the concrete being eaten away by the salt. The floor now looks like a masterpiece. We've already experienced a snow an the floor cleaned up wonderfully. I'd highly recommend Concrete Ink!!"

"Determined what the problem was and fixed it.  Later leaked again but they located problem and fixed it without further cost. Did a good job and have gone through heavy rains without any leaks.   Contractor did what they said what they said they would do without any problems. <br />"

"They did a great job. They laid plastic on the floor so they could go in and out of the house without making a mess (though they should have laid it first rather than after a few trips back & forth with dirty shoes), and the work was done within the estimated time. They explained each step as they did it and cleaned up thoroughly after they finished the work. We were very satisfied with the work completed. <br />"

"Great.  They were there first thing in the morning, explained everything they did and answered all of our questions.  Diagnosed the cause of the problem which another plumber could not do.  Have had no problems since. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Eldred, IL

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
