"Main Street Oriental Rugs did a great job cleaning our Persian rug. We accidentally dropped a wine glass and splashed red wine all along a white border. Main Street came to the rescue. They picked up the rug the same day that I called, moved a heavy coffee table to get to it, and returned it, clean, as promised 10 days later. They did a deep cleaning and I can honestly say the colors are more vibrant now than when we sent it out. The red spots have vanished and we are very pleased with the outcome. We could not be happier. Thank you so much."

"Last year Floor It Flooring installed tile flooring in 2 of my bathrooms and it worked out well, so I figured I'd have them install carpeting in my house. Unfortunately this job didn't go as well. When the owner Mike had visited my house weeks ago, we discussed pricing and various grades of carpet/padding which included looking at large swatches of carpet to compare texture/color etc.. I chose a low-medium quality carpet since I'll be renting out my house later this year and wanted something decent but not extravagant. During the conversation Mike stated that my house had 6lb padding and I thought since the carpeting wasn't going to be extremely thick, a better padding would help - so I decided to go with the 8lb variety and Mike said it would be a step above what I currently had so I was optimistic. Yesterday morning Mike and his assistant arrived to install the carpeting and I immediately noticed how thin the carpeting was as well as the padding being the same thickness as what I had. Now I was under no illusion that the carpet would be thick and plush - but it's so thin that when you walk on it you feel the concrete below. As I tap the carpet floor with my knuckle it makes a clicking noise - the backing material is that close to the surface. So when I asked Mike about the padding not being any better than what I currently had, he said that he "misspoke" and assumed it was 6lb. I explained that it was my impression that I'd be receiving padding that was thicker than what I had since he told me it would be a step above - I mean, that was the point of choosing the 8lb in the first place. He again said that he thought it was 6lb padding when he first visited to discuss the installation. Now had I been given accurate information from the beginning, I would have chosen 10lb padding - but it was too late. Sensing that he wasn't understanding just how confused and unsatisfied I was, I asked why the carpeting felt much thinner than the swatch I chose weeks ago. Mike simply said "that's the one you chose, so I don't know what else to tell you." Needless to say I was frustrated and bitterly disappointed with the whole situation since he made no effort to address my concerns. It was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've ever had with a vendor - to feel like you're being taken advantage of and not be able to do anything since it was too late to cancel the job and get your money back."

"They provided us with an estimate quickly, and the price was very reasonable. They installed the carpets and the dining room floor in a timeframe that worked with our schedule. Great communication every step of the way, and their quality of work is top-notch. We have already hired them for an additional project, new floors in our basement. Awesome company, we would highly recommend World Flooring to anyone in Central PA who needs carpet or laminate floors."

"They did a fabulous job. They were well prepared and moved a seven floor headboard and some heavy furniture before starting the job. Anyone who picks this company will be more than satisfied. They go beyond the duties of a professional carpeting installation."

"We contacted Wecker's as they were highly recommended here on Angie's List.  Cody Carman was our flooring consultant and he came to our house and did all the measuring. He is so knowledgable and immediately catered to our needs.  We were initially interested in hardwoods on both levels of our home.  The upstairs was all carpet and we later changed our minds to recarpet the upstairs.  We discussed our flooring needs with Cody and expressed to him that we were interested in 'value' as we are budget conscious as we just moved into our home. <br /> At first we were 'dead set' on 3/4 inch hardwood.  We didn't want anything else.  Cody explained to us the major differences between 3/4 inch hardwood and 'engineered' hardwood.  The biggest difference being how 'engineered' hardwood has many perpendicular placed layers of base material that withstand the many weather variations that occur, especially in southern Pennsylvania.  To us, 'engineered' hardwood was the right choice for so many reasons.  <br /> Cody took all our measurements and set an appointment to come by the store to make selections and work up a price. <br /> We dropped by the store in York and Cody was waiting for us with different levels of hardwood floors already picked out for us. <br /> We decided on Athens Acaia and a nice value mid grade carpet for the upstairs. <br /> Cody took his time working on pricing.  We were able to save some money by paying cash.  After Cody presented his estimate we informed him that we had an appointment with a competitor the very next day.  There was no 'hard sell' at all.  We continued to discuss the job and he bragged about the quality workmanship his installers provide.  He mentioned their names and that he's friends with them, etc. <br /> We decided on Wecker's that same day as we felt comfortable with the service Cody was providing us, the installers would provide and the pricing. <br /> Chad and Tommy arrived to install our flooring about 10 business days later.  They tore out the entire first floor which included two different kinds of hardwoods, vinyl and carpet.  It seemed like the old flooring was installed piecemeal and didn't flow at all.  There were also many squeaks as you walked across it.  We are 'over the top' happy with their installation of the hardwoods.  The entire first level now flows evenly without any squeaks. They are true craftsman! <br /> The upstairs carpet and stairs were also installed in a professional manner. <br /> If you're looking for a great value in a flooring investment don't hesitate to contact Wecker's.  We were glad we did! <br />"

"They showed up on time and finished placing and sealing the tile in one day.  There were many cuts that were made due to the counter tops not being level.  The second day they grouted the tile and caulked the space between the counter top and tile for a water tight seal. <br />"

"My husband had used them years back to have carpet put in. It looks nice. We started on the 31st of January and finished on the 7th of March. This is an older house. They sealed all of the patches. They took up everything. Some of the appliances had to be moved out, so they moved them and put them back. They even put in a new toilet for us. They were very cooperative. They were prompt. There were about six or seven guys. They did a good job. They cleaned up all of their work and took away our old toilet. They were professional. Everything was really good."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Elizabethtown, PA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
