He told us that our basement slab and walls were basically sound, and then focused his detective skills on finding where the foundation had been compromised from an egress window and duct opening cut into the existing walls and not properly sealed. Jon was able to fill and seal the gaps in a little over half a day, and he also checked for and mitigated other potential problem areas, such as another hole cut into the foundation for the main water shutoff. "I used Liftech for a structural repair and am happy to report that my experience with the company was very positive. My particular job concerned fixing an issue with the wrap-around deck on my house, where the concrete piers supporting the deck had heaved upwards. The core house foundation was stable where the deck attached to the house, but the heaving caused the edge of the deck to move upwards, pulling the overhead soffit away from the house and the deck itself to be out of level 2" across 6'. What made the job challenging was that all deck supports were 12" diameter logs, some 18' long and weighing 1000 lbs. After obtaining 2 estimates it was clear that Liftech offered the correct solution, which was to shore up the deck with temporary supports, remove all logs, deck railings and stairs, remove the original concrete piers, drill and sink helical piers 25' into the hole left by the piers, form and pour new concrete pier caps and then re-install the logs, railings and stairs. Because this was a complex and technically challenging repair, the company owner Darren came out and personally supervised the job. The job began exactly when scheduled, and did not run over the number of days estimated to complete (they were actually done in 7.5 days instead of the 8 estimated). In addition to Darren, the three man crew of Chad, Wesley and Austin were very professional, polite and hard working. I was frankly amazed at how much work they accomplished in such a short amount of time. The end result was exactly what I had hoped for - the deck is now level and sitting on stable supports guaranteed to never heave again. In short, it is clear that Liftech is more than just a concrete stabilization company, and they are fully qualified to handle complex foundation structural issues. I highly recommend this company."

"We hired them to reinforce the foundation where a few years before some tunnels had been dug through the soil under the footings to put in some new pipes. This is an old brick house and the footings are several widths of brick laid directly on the soil, not concrete. The reinforcement is to pour some concrete walls under the footings to support them and to stabilize the soil walls of the tunnels. They also poured concrete to stabilize another area where soil had been eroding under the footing. We also had them remove an unused brick planter next to the wall. The estimator, Lance Heimes, did a very thorough study of the area and then carefully described to us the recommended work. Because of his attention to detail and good explanations I had a lot of confidence in his recommendations. The work went smoothly and looks good upon completion. The weak point with this company was communication. I had to call them up to find out when the work was scheduled, and even then we were never sure when the workers would show up. They also sent me the final invoice for the work when the work was only about half-done, rather than upon "substantial completion" as provided in the contract. They did finish the work a day or two later, so it worked out OK, although for a while I was worried that they had forgotten to finish the work."

"Stellar sent Mike to look at our job and provide options and a quote. I stated that my priorities were energy efficiency, noise dampening, and that they were appropriate to the house and neighborhood both in style and cost. While my concern was not specifically cost (if there is great value in spending money for something better, that is fine) I did not want to spend too much in the context of the house and neighborhood these windows were going into. <br /> He arrived with a couple options he felt would be ideal for us. He answered a number of questions I had about various materials and types of windows. What I was most impressed with was before he left, I asked "so if money is no object, would you advise another choice through your company that I should be installing here?" to which he replied that he really could not advise spending a lot more, because any additional return in performance and quality would nominal. This seemed like a very honest response, when they could have attempted to upsell me on something ridiculous. <br /> I have been remodeling this house for more than three years, now. I have dealt with contractors and jobs of all sorts. Some have been absolute nightmares (like my tilers). However, dealing with Stellar has been terrific. Their prices seemed reasonable and they seemed knowledgeable. More, their guys arrived on the date provided and took the two days they said it would. They were polite, considerate, worked fast, worked around us (we have home offices), only turned on music after asking us first (and then, were very reasonable about the volume), cleaned up after themselves, and their supervisor checked up on the finished work before moving on to the next job. It really was clockwork. <br /> Since I don't know a lot about windows, I can not authoritatively speak to the quality of the product or the work. However, our home seems warmer, it is a lot quieter, the windows look a lot better, and they seem to have been installed properly. <br /> The only concern I had at any point was that their contract requires you to agree to third party arbitration and mediation, if there is ever a problem. In my experience and on advise of my legal counsel, this is never a good idea. I do not ever agree to arbitration clauses. However, I felt the price was reasonable enough (and every other installer seems to require the same agreement) that I would take the risk (though I did note my displeasure at the clause to the company).  <br /> Based on my experience with their sales guy, their installers, the installation, and the improvements to our comfort with these windows in the few months we have had them, I would currently recommend that someone looking for window options at least have an appointment with Stellar to see if their options and prices are for you. <br />"
