"The entire process was seamless! Clark was a great sales associate and helped us navigate what type of flooring we wanted for our kitchen, dining and powder room. He was knowledgeable and non-pressured. Dave & Dan did a great job on the hard surfaces. Omar & team were beyond exceptional with the carpet install! We’d definitely recommend The Carpet Guys!"

"They were great over the phone.  The took great detail and gave me an accurate estimate.  When they arrived, they had all the equipment necessary and used a carpet remnant to create a new threshold.  It was installed quickly and you couldn't even tell the repair was there.  I would highly recommend Harms for any carpet repairs. <br />"

"We were hesitant to use Empire but so glad we did! We had a rep from the carpet guys come out first and he wasn't very knowledgeable and had one carpet to choose from with what we wanted. The next day Empire came out, our sales lady was much more knowledgeable, very kind, and had many options in what we wanted! They have a promotion online that says buy one room, get all other rooms for $50 but of course that's only for crap carpet no one wants or buys so that was frustrating, but she worked with us on pricing and the carpet was installed 6 days later! (It could have been sooner but we chose to wait). We were a little concerned the day before installation because the email said they would come anytime between 8am-6pm, which worried us that they'd come late and not be finished that day. But two men arrived at 820am and were done, cleaned up and moved all of our furniture back by 1130am! It was a very smooth process and I'd recommend them to friends & family."

"Our purple carpet had about 100 urine stains from previous dogs and our own. The specialist, Robert, matched to color and treated every spot. If we didn't know where they were, we'd never know they spots had been there. Perfect job!"

"We shopped for carpet at the big box stores and several carpet specialty stores. The big box stores had individuals who knew very little about the different types of carpet and had an estimated installation date of four to six weeks. Other specialty carpet stores were higher in price and had a four week installation date. We had been without carpeting for six weeks already with the painting and construction we had done on our home. Jack was the only sales person who spent the time explaining what the different carpet types were and how they wear and the difference in the warranties. None of the other stores had the knowledge or gave us the time that he did. We walked out of the store knowing exactly which type of carpet we wanted, and why. Jack said they could install in ten to fourteen days. It was installed in Nine days from the date of measuring. One installer had 32 years experience installing carpeting, the other in the high twenties. And, after speaking with them we found out they are Jack's sons! So this is a true family business with tons of experience, knowledge, and the importance of doing a job well. We were very pleased we chose them, very pleased with the quality of workmanship, and thrilled that they could get the job done in less than half the time of other companies. I highly recommend them. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Erie, MI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
