Small jobs welcome

"Had a great experience with Art and his crew for providing a sub panel and power and lighting distribution for our new shop/garage. He came for a site visit, provided an quote and time frame and stuck to them - even with a few adjustments at the time of work. His crew showed up when they were supposed to, asked questions when appropriate, and did a thoughtful and neat job. Very satisfied and would recommend and use again."

"My electrical panel was 40 years old and had dangerously hot breakers and wires. John and Brian were able to fit me into their very busy schedule and were able to put a temporary fix on the panel 2 weeks ago. We made a future appointment to replace the panel and breakers. John and Brian called ahead of time, arrived early and were finished in less than 1 1/2 hours. Polite and professional, John and Brian were done in no time leaving me and my family much needed peace of mind. I highly recommend Greener Futures Electrical for any of your electric needs!"

"I had an emergency situation at my home where we partially lost power, and Unity went above and beyond in every respect! 1. They were able to send someone out the same day, and quoted me a $299 base fee. Every other electrician I called either said they were at least a week out, or had an emergency fee of $500 or more. 2. The electrician who came was SUPER friendly and helpful. 3. He quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem (it turned out to be relatively simple). 4. He then refused to accept even a partial payment, since the fix was so simple, and he was already in the neighborhood on another job. I will DEFINITELY call Unity again next time I need an electrician. Thank you!!!"

"We had an excellent experience working with the Lakeview Electric team! The lighting in our home was intense and unpleasant, which led to many nights of relying on lamps because we never wanted to turn on our overhead lights. Mark provided quality advice and recommendations- he installed modern dimmable switches and the light control upgrade has made our home so much more livable. I highly recommend the Lakeview Electric team! "

"I was able to receive an estimate for work over the phone, and the actual price was very close. I added 2 outlets when the crew arrived which was why the price was a little more. We had a power cable that had to be cut for a new door installation which disabled a lot more than we expected and the crew reconnected and added 2 outlets for us. Both guys that were here to do the work were awesome to work with, listened to what I was explaining and asking for and got right to work even with the door contractor working onsite. They were friendly, professional and very quick to get the work completed. Before we knew it, they were on their way. We will definitely be using this company for our electrical work in the future. What a refreshing change to have polite and professional contractors doing work for you and what you asked for!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Ethel, WA

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
