"Clark builders did a good job! Of course most of it was done during the pandemic when supplies were low or out of stock. We’ve been happy with the work they’ve done and would recommend them to anyone looking to build new home!"

"My husband and I were very happy with the work that was done building our deck. He added more supports than any other estimate we received. Even supports on the steps.  They were there on time and cleaned up each day after work was done. It only took 4 days, 1 for the footings 3 for the building. The last day it rained in the morning but they were here in the afternoon to finish the job. I would hire them again for any remodel we might need done."

"I received quotes from multiple companies and they were all comparable. All other companies spent approx 45 min looking at the house and taking measurements. Ayes spent 4 hours total at my home. Very comprehensive, professional and knowledgeable. My home required 21 Helix Piers which are much preferred to Push Piers. Matt was my contact person, Evan was on site. Just an excellent job all round. Evan team hit a main water pipe which caused a small leak in the basement. Matt drove 90 min to my home at 9pm arriving at 10.30 pm to ensure me they would fix the problem. The local water dept turned off the water, Matt spoke with them and had the bill taken care of. The next morning the pipe was repaired and we were off and running. Matt did not leave my home until after 11pm and a 90 min drive home. That is what I call customer service. Thank you Ayers for an excellent job. My family appreciated all your efforts."

"Putting my gazeebo together was not an easy task. Colleen was up for the challenge. Because of his building experience Colleen was able "figure out" the difficult parts. His price for the job was very reasonable. I highly recommend him. ?"

"Very professional people at M&M Seamless Gutters. The crew that came to my house were very hard working with high standards. <br />  When they arrived to start working on the roof they covered all my landscaping so they wouldn't damage it. Once the roof was completed they did a through cleaning of the grass and landscaping to make sure there was no old shingles or nails laying around. Same results with the crew that came to do my gutters. Very impressed with M&M Seamless Gutters. Will recommend to family and friends. <br />"

"My wife and I worked with Craig and found him very helpful in picking out hardwood floors for a dining room and office to picking out paint colors. He also drew up a design for built-in bookcases. Once we hammered out exactly what we wanted he began shortly after we returned from our vacation. Work started on time and was finished in a timely manner. <br /> Craig and his crew installed hardwood floors in a large dinning room and office. Craig built 7 built-in bookcases (Oak) across 2 walls in the office that are stunning. He also made a 6' long Oak built-in computer desk. He had his painters paint the dinning room, office and 2 upstairs bedrooms and a large portion of the upstairs hallway. The painters did a fantastic job! Craig also converted a portion of the upstairs hallway into a closet on one side and built in shelving unit on the other. <br /> My wife and I were very pleased with the work Craig and his crew did. We also felt the price was very affordable and fair. I highly recommend Craig's Construction and we will use him again for future projects. <br />"

"Gary and his team are very professional. He came out, provided an estimate for the work, and performed the service exactly as planned, on-time and on-budget. I realize that backsplash work is only part of what his company can offer but, based on my experience, I would (will) give him consideration for other larger projects, when the time comes. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Fairgrove, MI

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
