"I hired Lakeside to install a water heater in Ann Arbor in 2024. Their quote was about $400 higher than a competitor, but I chose them because I was told they could complete the job six days earlier. The water heater model was selected by a Lakeside technician during a paid visit to the property. However, on installation day, I was informed that the selected tank would not fit and a more expensive model had to be ordered. More importantly, after the installation, the required permits did not pass final inspection in time. During a City of Ann Arbor rental inspection, I was informed that the final inspection had not been completed, and I was unable to obtain the required certificate. As a result, I had to pay a $500 fine. In 2026, the unit required repair. I was informed that the issue appeared related to improper installation (including dissimilar metals in contact, leading to corrosion). Lakeside did not stand behind their work, and I had to pay for the repair."

"This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

"I contacted Kearsley Appliance Repair and the next day they sent a repairman out. Brandon gave me a 20 min. heads-up call and arrived right on time. He was professionally polite and did a few preliminary checks. He suspected it was the defrost control unit and confirmed that after removing a panel. He had the part ordered while he was still at the house. The part came in 4 days later, and I was contacted to set up a time for him to come back out and replace the bad part. Just as before, I got a heads up call and he arrived on time. In less than 30 minutes the work was done and the refrigerator is working fine. I thought that the work was good, and the price was fair. I would definitely call them for other repairs."

"Repair Clinic sent me a water intake valve that had some scuff marks and an unnecessary fixture (which I thought nothing of, assuming it had been removed from a new dishwasher). When the part did not fix my dishwasher's issue, I ordered a circulation pump, which also failed to fix the issue, so I decided to return both parts. Repair Clinic blamed me for the scuff marks and extra fixture, which is unacceptable. They referenced their return policy which states that parts which have been installed cannot be returned, and denied me any form of refund. For all I know, the water intake valve was defective, and I have no recourse. Don't put any stock in the "No-Hassle 365-Day Returns" they proudly tout on their homepage. Instead, expect finger-pointing and uncaring dismissal. You are better off with one of their many competitors."
