"Neal Burgess came over and planted 3 redwood trees for me on a Saturday.  One of his workmen planted two pepper trees on our hillside. The retaining wall went well.  I was disappointed they would not prune an oak tree but I was told they are not removing trees any longer."

"<p>Initial contact and call went very well;  they were very professional.  Price was right and the reviews were good.  They were also very accommodating of my schedule.  I am extremely busy and had very little time to micro manage and then detail review everything timely.  My mistake.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>I did have 3 problems that prevent me from giving them glowing reviews:</p> <p><br /></p> <p>1) When they set the frame for the new concrete driveway, they ruptured sprinkler system with the forms stakes.  I did not know about it until months later when I turned on sprinklers.  I was able to fix myself, but then I had to dig and waste time fixing.</p> <p>2) When they poured the new concrete, there was some splashing of the concrete onto my garage.  They must have wiped it off, but not after the discoloration set in. I figured it might be just dust and would wash off later.  No dice.  I finally just bit the bullet and painted the garage.  I was not totally irked by this because I ended up with a nicer looking door after my effort (the door was getting a bit weathered), but the fact that the discoloration occurred because of their work was a good representation to their attention for detail (or lack thereof).</p> <p>3) Whatever top coat they put on the driveway to seal it while it cured has dried in patchy blotches in some areas.  In most of the driveway, it completely wore away and left a nice (and expected) even color tone.  In other areas, it left these horrible stains that DO NOT come off.  For a while, the botchy areas would slowly start to vanish and so I figured that given enough time, the whole top coat would eventually disappear.  Nope.  When I finally do have time, I will need to look into something to clean that up.</p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"Although the walkways turned out very well, we were disappointed because the job was not initially finished as promised. However, once we contacted Miller's about what was left undone, they responded promptly and wrapped up the job. <br /> <br /> I'll start with the positives: <br /> <br /> 1) The walkways were done very well and look nice. <br /> 2) The crew who poured the cement worked hard and was quiet and efficient. <br /> <br /> And now what didn't go so well: <br /> <br /> 1) We got the estimate in early April. We had to call a few times to schedule the work. Our first message or two was not returned. <br /> 2) The crew didn't show up at all on the day we were told work would begin. Instead of Miller's contacting us regarding the delay, we had to call and were told the crew had to finish another job. Our project was rescheduled to the next week. <br /> 3) When the crew showed up the following week, the first two guys had no idea what they were there for. They asked me if they should start shoveling the rock perimeter in the <em>front</em> yard. I had to explain our project involved only the back yard and showed them a diagram and instructions my husband fortunately left, just in case. The crew leader appeared to know more but it wasn't clear how much instruction had been given about what our project entailed. <br /> 4) The workers asked me where to put the ornamental rock they moved to pour the sidewalk. I asked them if they planned to put the rock back once the forms were removed and they said yes. I then suggested putting the pile near the walkway so it'd be easier to put back when they were done. They left without putting the rock back. My husband had to shovel the rock instead. <br /> 5) They also left without reinforcing the fence posts. We had to contact Miller's and ask that the work be completed. <br /> <br /> Okay, now for the rest of the story (another positive!): <br /> <br /> The owner followed-up with us immediately after receiving our complaint by e-mail. He apologized profusely and graciously offered to have the workers return and complete the job at no additional cost. The two workers who showed up to reinforce our fence posts were punctual, knew exactly what needed to be done and had the job finished in 20 minutes. <br /> <br /> If I was asked to provide advice to the merchant, I'd say their communication with staff and customers before, during and after projects needs work. There should be a confirmation call to the customer to make sure details are set and expectations outlined before the work begins. If a crew can't show up on the day a project is to begin, contact the customer to say so and offer an alternative. Finally, I'd suggest a follow-up e-mail survey, inquiring about the quality of work, whether the job was finished to the customer's satisfaction, allow for comments, etc. There are several internet survey sites that can easily be set up to perform such an inquiry."

FAQs for lawn and garden sprinkler system installation projects in Fields-landing, CA

While drip irrigation systems have higher upfront costs, they can save you money in the long run. By delivering water directly into the soil with minimal evaporation and runoff, drip irrigation systems conserve water and improve efficiency. This means better performance and results for your landscaping, and cost savings over the system's lifespan.

Yes, irrigation systems can add value to your home, especially when installed with high-quality materials and a solid design. A well-irrigated landscape enhances curb appeal and can attract potential buyers. However, poor design or installation may reduce performance and even decrease your property's value. Hiring an expert for installation and performing regular maintenance is key to securing the long-term benefits.

A local irrigation professional can help you check your drip irrigation system to make sure it's in good shape. You'll want to make sure the water pressure is in a good range, repair any leaks as soon as possible, and cover the cost to winterize your sprinkler system as recommended by your irrigation contractor.

A drip irrigation system lasts between 10 and 15 years. This lifespan is determined by the quality of materials, the precision of installation, and regular professional maintenance. Unlike traditional sprinkler systems that can last up to 50 years, the thinner piping used in drip systems is more sensitive to UV exposure and environmental wear. Proper upkeep and timely repairs enhance durability and ensure consistent irrigation performance.

Drip irrigation is best suited for plant beds, containers, greenhouses, and row crops. It supplies water directly to individual plants, ensuring precise moisture control where it is needed most. For areas with simple layouts, above-ground systems work efficiently, while subsurface installations may be cost-prohibitive in spaces with extensive tree roots or irregular terrain. Proper planning maximizes the benefits of drip irrigation across a variety of applications.
