"My Spanish tenant (who swears toilets have wider drains in Europe) had stopped up TWO of the toilets in our condo. The second floor bathroom was flooded and water was dripping through the ceiling. Or at least that was the broken English story at 8am. I called New England Drain company, recounted my sketchy plugged up toilet story as a bit of an emergency, and they had a technician at the condo within two hours. I was able to unplug one with a plunger and a bit of dry heaving (there is not enough Purell in the world to do this job), but the first floor must have had a boot in it or something. In any case, they fixed everything in minutes, charged me a very reasonable fee, and guaranteed easy flushing for a week. I love them."

"Our water heater pilot went out the day after Thanksgiving.  We managed to get it back on, but it kept going back off.  On a holiday weekend, very few companies even returned the call by Monday.  But Dan Sweet called back promptly.  Although he was available to come out on Saturday, we were able to get the pilot back on ourselves to get us through til Monday morning.  <br /> On Monday morning (today) Dan came out first thing.  He discovered that our gas-fired tank water heater, which was near the end of its life, was vented in a substandard and unsafe way, and that a valve associated with the pilot lighting system was malfunctioning so that relighting the pilot was a dangerous act.  <br /> By chance, we had been considering a new high-efficiency boiler with integrated water heater, to be done in the spring.  We already had a quote from another firm to do this job and were leaning toward going with that company in the spring.  After the water heater mishap, we asked Larry Sweet to give us a proposal to do the same kind of integrated high-efficiency boiler and hot water system, and they are very competitive.  Turns out they've installed hundreds of boilers locally in the past several years, including at our church, at the local farm, and throughout our neighborhood.  So that we don't have to rush into a boiler replacement in wintertime, and given the unsafe state of our old water heater, Sweet offered to lend us (at no cost) an electric water heater they had on hand, installing it the same day (and removing our dangerous old water heater) so that we wouldn't have to go without hot water for even one day.  They made it clear that we are under no obligation to have them install a new system, even though we are using their spare electric water heater for what could be a few months. <br /> Larry and Dan Sweet really went way over and above to help us today.  No company could be expected to do what they did for us, and we are very grateful.  They are very personable, expert at what they do, take pride in high quality work, and they engender a high level of trust.  Not to mention they are a family-run local business that has been serving our area for 70 years.  They truly represent a different kind of company.  This is the kind of company that once you find, you don't let go. <br />"
