"I was referred to Greg Garrison by a contractor I met at the Indianapolis Home Show. I contacted Greg and told him what I wanted to do.  He brought samples of carpeting and hardwood to my house.  We  decided on Solid oak flooring (Somerset Color Collection, 3 1/4 " x 3/4 ") and Mohawk Smart Strand carpet.  I also ordered a 12' x12' piece of carpet that he had bound and backed to make an area rug for our great room.  Installation was spread out over a couple of weeks to give us time to move things back into rooms before the next area was started. So they laid carpet upstairs, then did the wood floors (entryway, office, great room and dining room), and then did downstairs carpeting and the stairway.  It was interesting to try to decide on a location to store the 43 boxes of hardwood that needed to sit in our house for several days to acclimate to temperature and humidity levels before installation could begin.  We filled up the dining room with boxes!  The installers were great! They were very professional and particular about precision and they always cleaned up the work areas nicely.   Jarrett and Tom were especially good to work with for the 4 days they spent with us doing the hardwood floors. They had a LOT of furniture to move, a lot of "squeaks" in the floor to address before beginning, and then they we so pedantic about inspecting each piece of wood before installing it.  We are very pleased with the outcome!

"It was fine. I wasn't overly impressed but they did what we asked them to. I'm not completely convinced that their work solved the problem we were having. It was okay but I'm still wondering if what they did solved the problem or not. The vent line is in a crawlspace that's difficult to get to so the part of my problem is I haven't gone down there to see if the repairs they did hold up or whether it's going back to the same problem that we had before. The pricing was fair."

"Greg had given us a quote for a refinished kitchen and to rebuild our old porch into a 4 seasons room.  Greg's price was great, but we did not have the budget for all the hardware and appliances for new kitchen.  So we decided to have our porch remodeled for 4 seasons room.  Greg's quote was great and so we moved forward.

His group definitely ran into many snags that were not expected.  Our porch was not built the greatest in the first place, so Greg's group had to overcome several difficulties with the remodeling.  Greg's group consisted of many caring and professional carpenters and workers that spent a long time around my property and I felt very comfortable with all of them.  They even made many accommodations for our family dog, who did not like all the construction, but everyone seemed to work around his situation.

All in all the final work was a total 180 from the original look.  Our new 4 seasons room looks fantastic and we definitely love all the detailing and work that was put in.  It did take a little longer than planned, and some parts of communication were difficult during some of the harder room transitions.  However, with that being said, Greg does excellent work and we would definitely recommend his group for any remodeling job."

FAQs for carpet repair, refasten, or stretch projects in Flat-rock, IN

Removing a rug costs around $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot. This includes the fee for a contractor to roll up the rug and haul it away in a vehicle for disposal or recycling. If they need to move furniture, they might charge an additional $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot of furniture.

If your carpet has minor damage—like a single area that requires stretching, patching, or cleaning—it might be less expensive to pay for carpet repair than remove and replace it. Repairing carpet costs around $210 per project.

The cost of carpet cleaning is about $190 for a three-bedroom home, so it’s a good idea to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year. But most carpeting only lasts 10 years. If your carpet is nearing the end of its life span, it might be more cost-effective to remove and replace your carpet than to clean and repair it. The average cost to install a new carpet is about $1,800.

Search our directory of carpet removal companies and services to find an affordable, screened contractor near you. All HomeAdvisor listings are vetted, reviewed, and rated by homeowners, so you can be sure to find a local pro qualified for your project. Get at least three quotes to compare prices and the timeline for your project.

Commercial carpet removal usually costs on the lower end of the carpet removal price range, around $1.10 per square foot or even less. Carpet installation contractors often offer discounted rates for larger projects, like commercial carpet removal and installation. Similarly, you might be able to negotiate a lower residential carpet removal cost if the carpet is pulled up throughout your entire home.

Most cities accept old carpets as bulk trash, but you may need to schedule a special pickup and prepare the carpet properly. Remove any nails or glue residue, cut the carpet into manageable pieces, and roll and secure them. Alternatively, you can take your old carpet to a local recycling center for a small fee, where it can be processed and repurposed.

Yes, you can remove carpet yourself if you're ready for a labor-intensive task. DIY carpet removal requires heavy lifting and tools like utility knives, pliers, and pry bars. The process is generally straightforward but time-consuming for stapled-down carpet. If your carpet is glued down or you're worried about damaging the subfloor, hiring a professional is best to ensure the job is done safely and efficiently.
