Small jobs welcome

"The panel turned out great. They worked effortlessly to ensure that everything was done correct. My old panel was labeled wrong, so they were able to fix the labels so that I now have correct names for each breaker. He went around and reworked my outlets that were wired in correctly and even helped me program a universal remote to my fan. He was also able to help me replace my bathroom fan, all in one day. So yes, I would reconsider them and I hope you have as great as an experience as I did! Thank you!"

"Shane of Destiny Electric quickly determined that the problem was with the speed wall switch. Shane was able to immediately replace the switch because, with his expert knowledge, was able to determine prior to The visit that this was the likely problem and had a new switch at hand.We continue to be impressed with Destiny Electric’s professionalism, courtesy and reliability. We would use them for any of our future electrical requirements."

"Paul did a super job explaining and installing a whole house surge protector unit below our breaker panel in Feb. 2020. Paul was on time, courteous, knowledgeable, fast, and a great guy! Bruce (in the office) set things up for Paul to install the surge protector after they received it from the manufacturer. Paul had determined what was needed when he came out to give us the free estimate. The order took about a week to arrive so we have the best surge protector for our house. Paul came right out to install it after Bruce called to say they had received it and set up the time for the installation. We could not have asked for better work than Paul's expertise - we are so glad to have this now to protect our appliances from the FL storms and JEA power surges. We will call on Power and Control Installation again for any electrical needs we have! Thank you Paul Ingle!"

"Chris Ayarza came in and completed the job perfectly, even helped with assisting on a couple electrical jobs I had planned to take on myself. When the job was completed, I noticed the AC stopped blowing cold air but they came in next day to finish up with labeling our new panel and also spent some time to fix the issue. Overall great experience and learned some new tricks too"

"Howard Electric did a great job. They did the work timely and were very reasonable with their charges. I will definitely call them again for any electrical for I need in the future. The owner even went back to his shop and got a exhaust fan motor to replace the broken one. He had in his shop and did not charge for this motor. This saved drywall work as well as I was able to return the new exhaust fan I bought at Lowe's. So really saved me a lot of money on repair."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Fleming Island, FL

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
