"There were two floor crews. First crew put in the ceramic flooring and vinyl wood flooring. I give them an A +. They were courteous, professional, hard working. Excellent job and perfect clean up. Second crew who installed the carpet was like the polar opposite of first crew. Although the carpet installation was good, they grunted instead of speaking to me, tracked mud all over the other flooring, left dirty spots on the new carpet, threw the trash everywhere in the house and parked on the front lawn!! I made 10 phone calls to the store to get some resolution. On the 10th call finally got the salesperson who didn't empathize or even offer an apology. After 3 weeks of trying to talk to someone responsible at Wholesale Flooring, I finally got resolution thru intervention by Angie's list. Within 24 hours of the contact by Angie's list, I was talking to the Wholesale Flooring 's chief financial officer who agreed to pay for the clean up and repair of the mud rut in the front yard. I really thank Angie's list and encourage anyone who has problems to use their help."

"m. Hired them to renovate a house for rental. Projects included painting most rooms with eggshell on walls and semigloss on trim; refinish hardwood floors; install new laminate counters and hi boy faucet.

Things started off well. I kept hearing "two weeks and we'll get it done". We started second week in September. Finished right before Christmas.

All paint was flat, no eggshell, no semigloss. Paint was sloppy, baseboards were leaking paint around the wood. Paint streaks smeared all over the windows. Didn't finish painting the front door. Hardwood finish was sloppy. Paint dripped all over the floor especially in places you wouldn't think to look like inside closets. This was fixed but only after repeated complaints.

Bath remodel went well however they didn't caulk around the tub and messed up my flooring during the install (I have pics)
I complained before final payment was made and Craig did the best he could to fix it up (he caulked around the tub and cleaned up the sloppy paint and added another layer of varnish to the hardwood floors) and it looks much better than it did. But I could have saved money by hiring subcontractors myself rather than trust someone to coordinate it all for me.

Contract was signed in 2nd week of September and a few weeks turned into three months. I was naive and paid too much. $7500 out of my savings. I'll be renting this place much longer than I'd have liked to just to recoup costs. I'm not even finished, thank goodness I didn't hire them to replace the laminate in the kitchen, bath, and utility room. They may have started out strong but seemed to run out of steam.

I have revised this review because I think it was too harsh. I will say that they were never rude, and always polite and apologetic about delays. But I still wish I'd hired individual contractors to do specific jobs rather than hire one company."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Florien, LA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
