"The Radon Guys were amazing. I was representing the buyer of a home that came back with a more than normal radon level. They helped educate my buyer and we came up with a plan to move forward with the purchase of the home. A brand new radon mitigation system was installed and radon level came back at less than. 1. Would absolutely recommend them in the future. "

"Just everything about Tennessee Radon Services impressed me. The quick communication right from the start was convenient. The next day estimate appointment was a surprise and then two days later it was done. And the mitigation system we got is totally top of the line. Whisper quiet and high gauge pvc. And for the bottom of the estimate range too. Stop searching for your Radon mitigation service. These guys are the real deal."

"I had Green Home out for a Professional Inspection of my crawl space, as I had some concerns about humidity and occasional ground water under our home. Brian performed a very thorough assessment of the crawlspace & gave me some great tips/advice about my current dehumidifier & exhaust fan. He simply advised me to reposition our existing dehumidifier and slow the speed on the exhaust fan. He did not try to sell me something I didn't need but rather advised me of a couple things that I could do on my own without trying to create work for himself and a running up an avoidable expense for our family. I truly appreciate his honesty and integrity. I strongly recommend this company if you need a mold inspection or Indoor Air inspection, and you're looking for honesty, integrity & non-toxic products."

"Radon proof did a great job. With three separate slabs, and elevated radon levels above 30 pCi/l, my home was a challenge to say the least. So much so, that two other radon mitigation companies never followed up on their initial estimates. Trevor stopped by and came up with creative solutions that the prior contractors did not think of, and he was very reasonably priced. We tried a couple of less invasive solutions, and Radon Proof came out several times to tweak the set up until the levels eventually settled below 1.0 pCi/l. If you are in the North Alabama or Southern TN area, this is your radon company. Highly recommend!"

"I had a significant potential issue with radon test results done by my home inspector that would have prevented closing on the purchase of my new home. I was able to get Keith/Franklin to come out quickly with two additional radon testing machines in order to get more data. Turned out my home inspector's machine was in need of recalibration and was not reading accurately. Thanks to Keith, we were able to figure that out and proceed with the closing on my new home as planned."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Nashville, TN

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
