"Our CPVC house piping had a lot of water hammer. After turning on the washing machine, I walked out for a moment, and then when I came back in water was dripping from the ceiling exhaust fan onto the washing machine. We have a two story house and they ran the hot water plumbing from the water heater in the garage through the laundry room ceiling. I removed the exhaust fan and could see water dripping from a tee way back beyond reach. The water hammer from the washer likely caused the fitting to start leaking. I turned the house water supply off and sent a message to Simpson plumbing through Angie's list. A lady from Simpson plumbing contacted me right away the next morning. She was courteous, but was having a hard time understanding what the problem was. Maybe I was giving too much information or something, but when the plumbers arrived later that afternoon they didn't understand what was going on. I ran through what happened again and showed them the wet spot on the ceiling. They had to cut an opening in the ceiling and we turned the water on and confirmed the leak. We moved my washing machine out of their way and they cut out the CPVC tee and replaced it with PEX. The piping was brittle so it took him a couple of attempts to get a straight cut which is why I called them to mess with it. After installing the PEX tee, we were leak free and at my request they provided a reference for the drywall repair. He also advised getting some water hammer arrestors installed on the supply lines to the washing machine to stop the water hammer, which I have since done."

"On a Thursday while out of state a tenant called and said their 50 gal gas water heater was leaking a lot of water. I had on file a make & model number and current price of a replacement. Cost at Home Depot $408. However since I was 2,000 miles away I had no way of accommodating purchase, delivery, and installation. I called up Apollo, who is my regular plumbing company, for that side of town. I was assured although the model number of the unit they would supply was exactly the same as the one from Home Depot, the model number was different because it came from another supplier. The installation appointment was set up by Apollo for the next day between 1:00-5:00PM. 2:00 Friday I got a call the technician had gotten sick and went home. The install would have to be done Monday. Unless I was willing to pay time&half for overtime and they would install it Friday evening. Suddenly their problem became mine. I agreed to the overtime since I couldn't have the tenant without hot water for 3 days. When I got the bill the material cost of the water heater was $530.40 and in addition to the overtime I was charged a $75.00 "Emergency Work" fee. Frankly, I think their problem should have not become my expense and Apollo should have offered a compromise. The work was done in an excellent manner and the tenant is happy with no call back.

"I left a message for Walt on a Saturday morning and he returned my call the same morning. He made an appointment with me for the following Tuesday afternoon. He was very accommodating when that same afternoon I asked him to push the appointment back by fifteen minutes. He arrived promptly for the appointment. He quoted me $75 to $100 depending on the length of the job and was able to complete the work at the $75 price. I don't know how to determine the "quality" of a door installation, but I have a closet door again...it works... and I'm happy. Based on Walt's responsiveness, punctuality, politeness, and ability to do the job at the low end of his cost estimate, I would definitely hire him again."
