"I got my windows from them and the price was high but the process was painless, I figured why not I'll get gutters from them too. Sales guy came out and have me a quote, said the tentative install date was in a week but I'd get a call to confirm the day before. Well, I didn't. I called the company the day after, left a voicemail with the head of gutter installs (found out later that guy had left but no one updated the number). Call my sales rep. He says he'll figure it out and call me back. He does not. This was Friday so I give it the weekend, call back Tuesday and leave another voicemail. No luck. Thursday I call and get through to someone who says they are taking over for the guy whose phone I've been calling, promises to schedule the install next week and he'll call me back the next day with details. Big surprise, he does not. The next week I wait until Thursday before getting fed up. This time my boyfriend calls and they say they'll schedule someone two weeks later. Horay. A date. Well, guess what? That's today. I take off work. No workmen. 2pm I get a call from someone saying they are calling about my address for the install next week. Are you kidding me? They do not have their collective act together, cannot stick to a date, and are seemingly incapable of calling you back when you actually want them to. This is awful. At this point I have no faith I will get my gutters or just get jerked around another couple of weeks and told it'll be another month before someone can do the install. Rating a D because they did do well with the windows. So it seems they are very hit or miss and their different departments are run very inconsistently from what I can see. The crew did arrive and were very friendly and responsive. There was some unexpected damage but they were able to fix it and complete the install quickly. I'm happy with the professionalism of the install team. Additionally, the company did contact me and said they were reviewing their communication strategy to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen again. The person on the phone was very apologetic. I'm still not sure if I'll return as a customer but it seems like they are sincerely trying to fix the communication problem."

"Rick Pepper has an approach to managing projects that was a good fit for me. Quality first, then lowest reasonable cost. Good communications both with phone and text, Great discussions of options and prices. Cost was not an issue for me at this time, but I was told by another General Contractor that the Omega Roofing and Trim work that I'm having done was below average. The roofing has all been completed and the workers were efficient and careful to meet my needs. Some changes had to be made due to market availability, but they kept me in the loop for everything. When the Chimney covering had to be fixed, they recommended complete replacement, which I agreed to, and they did a wonderful job! Trim and gutter work is on hold due to rain, but I expect the same level of service."

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"During the sales process, Jeff Patterson was very polite and convincing that the contract would be honored.  It was not.  The roofers who came to install the roof did not use starter shingles all around the house, which was verbally said by Jeff that they would be used.  When I asked him about it, when the roof was complete (because I could not get up with him after repeated attempts throughou the day), he said "We just ran out of them."  I was here for the very beginning of the job, and noticed right away that starter shingles were not being used.  Since he never responded all day, the workers went about installing the roof.  I discovered later that this fact VOIDED the warranty by the shingle company!  I told Jeff this, after the project was complete, and he said he was unaware of that.  I told him it was hard to believe he was unaware of this facet of the warranty on shingles that he uses on all houses.  To make matters worse, in about a month, we had a leak!!  We had never had a leak in this house before, so I contacted Jeff about this and he said he would have someone come out to look at it.  A representative of the company came to look at it and said it had leaked because the cornerboard at a junction was rotted.  The contract stated that all rotted wood would be replaced.  He had also said a new pan would be installed with the new shingles, but it was not, and this was in the very same location as the leak.  The orginal rusted pan was still there.  I contacted him again to let him know that the cornerboard should have been replaced since the contract included replacing rotted wood, along with the pan, but he sent the same man out again - who again said the cornerboard was rotted and that it would cost $400 to replace it.  To me, when you have a new leak with a new roof, and the pan was not replaced, it should not cost $400 to repair it!  He ceased contact with me at that point.  I sent him a letter with pictures of the leak, and stated that we had had someone replace the cornerboard and pan, and that I wanted to be reimbursed the $350 it cost me to have them do this.  He never responded whatsoever.

FAQs for wood or fiber cement siding installation or complete replacement projects in Fort Bragg, NC

Yes, removing your existing siding before installing new cedar siding is essential for a secure and long-lasting installation. It helps eliminate hazards like rot and pest infestations and ensures a smooth surface for the new siding. Leaving old siding in place can compromise the appearance and integrity of your new cedar siding. Engaging a licensed siding contractor will ensure proper removal and preparation.

To determine how much cedar siding you'll need, start by measuring the height and width of each exterior wall of your home to calculate the area. For gable ends, measure from the base to the peak. Add up all these areas and then add an extra 10% to account for waste and future repairs. This ensures you purchase enough siding without running short.

Cedar siding endures between 20 and 40 years if maintained correctly from the start. This lifespan is secured by performing regular inspections for cracks, fungus, and bubbling and by pursuing consistent cleaning, painting, or staining with an appropriate sealant. Engaging a professional for periodic inspections ensures that your siding remains resilient and visually appealing for decades.

Your cedar siding must be maintained every three to five years through a thorough restaining or repainting process to preserve its strength and appearance. Regular maintenance prevents damage and ensures that the wood remains in peak condition. For homeowners seeking a less demanding upkeep schedule, choosing vinyl or aluminum siding offers a more resilient alternative while still providing exceptional style.
