Customers say: Quick response

"I needed additional grounding for the house's electrical system and a 220V outlet installed. Rodgers Electric provided me with an estimate for the work, and he stuck to that price, which was significantly more manageable compared to other estimates I received. Michael Rodgers and his team came out and got the job done quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend this company for electrical needs."

"I was extremely impressed with Timothy. He is an excellent ambassador for Tom Drexler and the epitome of quality service. His appearance was neat and professional. When I smiled at the American flag on his sleeve, Tim took the opportunity to brag about the company hiring veterans. He then explained his background in Georgia and how pleased he is to be working for Tom Drexler. Tim assessed the problem, put the info into his iPad and presented three options for repair. His company had just upgraded their software allowing for a more streamlined operation. In friendly conversation he explained the options and even the maintenance programs now available. When Tim came back into my home with the needed parts, he placed booties over his shoes and placed a canvas cloth on my floor at the work area. I thanked him for this and he said ‘we want to be sure it is as clean or cleaner when we leave’ and he did! We chatted while he worked and he NEVER had a negative comment about his job or even the sloppy work from the previous plumber/handy man. By the time he was finished, which was quickly and efficiently, I felt like I had met the plumber of my dreams!"

"Remember how service used to be? These people do! Not only did they do what I contracted with them to do, but the service guy who came explained why they replaced a part, its importance to the unit, and was very professional and personable. When I called 6 hours later to leave a message saying my unit was still cycling and hadn't shut off, the owner called me back that evening(tho I asked only that he call the next day), explained what was probably happening (still cooling down), why (he had called the service guy and found it was 86 degrees when he came), and when to expect it to change. He was right. And I'm a very happy customer. These people understand what "service" means - or used to mean!"

"Well we were going to do a ground mount using re-purposed
metal, but there was not enough of it. So Renewable Engineered Systems designed
a system for the roof of the house. We Worked with Brian Brown who helped us
decide what to use.   The solar panel
system is very neat. Get to watch my power everyday.

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Fort Knox, KY

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
