"Lately service at Acosta has been disappointing and confusing. Plus I've had to deal with unprofessional, argumentative and dishonest employee, Ms. Bridget. Monthly I pay $21.45 and per our contract Acosta is suppose to come to my home twice a year to do a tuneup on my heat pump. In 2025 they only came once. I paid more that $250 for them to only come once. How is that fair? This isn't the first time they only came once in a year. The argumentative Bridget angrily told me she would send me a copy of the dates and times they've been to my home...I'm still waiting. I asked Bridget to allow me to speak to the owner, she told me she handles all issues and wouldn't allow me to speak to the owner. So what is a customer to do when they have to deal with an angry, unprofessional, argumentative, dishonest employee? Is it asking too much to get what I paid for?"

"Service Tech msg when he was on his way. Arrived on time and was very professional. However, the estimate for the replacement unit was 3 times higher than what a unit should cost to replace. So needless to say, I was disappointed in their quote."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Fort Mill, SC

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
