"Ed retrieved the carpet from Home Depot, saving me their delivery cost. He removed the old carpet and padding, then installed new. He swept the bare floor before installing the pad, and vacuumed the carpet when the job was completed. All told, it took him about 2 hours. However, he didn't have to install tacking strips (since the room had already been carpeted), so if your job needs those, it would take longer. Friendly, courteous, prompt."

"The install went very smoothly. I cleaned out one bedroom myself including pulling up the carpet and pad. This saved me a little money. The other bedroom and closet had a lot more heavy stuff. So, I let Pferrman do it for me. Using very round numbers, it was about $100 per room to have them move the furniture, remove the carpet and pad and dispose of it. The price for the berber was great. I'm sure there is higher quality berber, but not at this price. The workers were very professional and hard working. I didn't ask much of anything of them that was out of the ordinary. They did a great job working around an odd piece of baseboard. -- That's a long story -- But the relevant point to take is that they installed carpet around it and it now blends in with the room perfectly. <br />"

"<p>I called the office before the installers were due to arrive and told them that we had found an ant infestation by our sliding glass doors in the room to be carpeted. When they arrived, they had the materials to clean up the area and cemented closed the openings where the ants came in. When they were finished and the furniture moved back in; they checked to make sure that I was satisfied with the work. I was and we were very impressed.</p> <br />"

"They were excellent. They are going to be coming out and repair our hardwoods as well. They are going to cut the rug down to size while they are out here. We picked out the carpet and they cut it down to the size I wanted and bound it. They brought it out and laid it. It was reasonably priced, more than buying nice throw rugs. They have put hardwood floors in our other house. To fix the hardwoods he will charge by the hour. One rug is 10 by 12 and the other one is 15 by 12 and I paid $900 for both rugs. It included the delivery, binding, and the felt pad underneath. It was the cheapest that I was able to find."

"Came and measured the room and quoted me a price. After I agreed he proceeded to clean the carpet.  Got out stains that a larger company had previously claimed could not be removed.  Also removed rust stains from carpet where furniture was sitting.  Did a great job and the carpet looks and smells like new!! <br />"

"1) We didn't hear from the schedule and installation department until the last minute.  Becausse of the amount of furniture and other items to be moved I was concerned about getting the rooms cleared out on time without having to do all the lifting myself. I was playing voice-machine message -tag with the head of installing. Finally, on the 16th I got a call from one scheduling person saying that the carpets would be installed the next morning between 9:30 and 11:00 AM, and it was cleared that she had not spoken with the head  installer as there had been no answers to my previous calls. Fortunately, my son was able to come over at 9:00 AM the next morning to help move furniture.  The installers called at 11:30 AM and said that they were on their way. <br /> 2) The salesman bragged that the installers worked exclusively for Carpetland and they did not subcontract to other installers. <br /> The panel truck that installers drove to my house was copper color and the sides were rusted out. There we no signs or logo's on the truck to identify the installers as being from Carpetland. We did not know they were from Carpetland until we saw them start pulling carpet out of the back of the truck. The men were dressed in jeans and had no identifying badges or other id's to  identify them as representing Carpetland and they looked like freelance sub-contractors. <br /> 3) One of the reasons we wanted our son there was because the salesman told us that the installers would not move any furniture, and we found out the day before they they would and they did help to move furniture to clear the rooms for installation. <br /> 4) When he came to measure the rooms prior to installation the salesman did it with my teenage daughter present by herself. Although I had informed his company that I was on my way to the my house. When I got to my my house he said that he had already measured the rooms and he was speaking to my teenage daughter.  On the day of installation, the carpet installers informed me that the salesman had miss-measured one of the bedrooms and the piece that they bought along for my daughter's bedroom was too little.  They left it on the floor and said that would have to come back <br /> 5) When we got the message that they were going install the right carpet and living room carpet the following Saturday, the 24th. the message said they would come earlier between 8 and 9 AM.  Again they called at 9:20 to say they were coming at 9:30 AM. This time they got it all right and we were finally able to put my daughter's room back in order.  I paid the installers the balance as requested.. <br /> 6) I have complained to the salesman and the company saying that everything they claimed that differentiated them from their competition was false, and they ended up doing everything that the salesman said the Carpetland does not do. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Fort Thomas, KY

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
