"This is the best company to have ever worked in my house. It took me a week of reviews and readings before selecting American Radon Systems to install the radon mitigation system in my house and I made the right choice. Bill and the rest of the workers are extreemly courteous. Bill took time to come and explain every details to me. He was so friendly and it was like we've been friend for a very long. I think Bill enjoy his work than the money. His staffs are very dedicated to the work, well organize, and pay attentions to details. The materials they used were topnotch qualities (I checked online) and the finishings were so perfect. Within a day, the radon in my basement dropped from 6 to below 1.0 and has stay low ever since (very effective). The cost was relatively low (very cheap). In general, I will rate American Radon Systems 10/5! Yes, the rating was not an error but because they exceeded my expectations. Please, hire American Radon Systems and thank me later! Thanks again Bill. I will recommend you any day to anybody without reservation."

"Schan did a great job, very professional. He came out to see what the job was before he gave me a quote. I have a huge crawl space which took some time but he stuck with it to finish it in one day. Now I can breathe easier knowing it's taking care of right. I highly recommend Clean Air Radon Systems."

"Herb Blackmon was our first point <br /> of contact with US Waterproofing.  He provided a detailed explanation of <br /> what was causing the leak in our basement.  Herb was very knowledgeable <br /> and explained the issues we were facing in a manner that was easy to understand. <br />  He presented us with several options and we decided to install the drain <br /> tile system in our entire basement as well as a new concrete floor. <br /> The job took about a week to complete.  It was originally supposed to take about 48 <br /> hours but when we decided to have a new floor installed and to have the old <br /> floor dug out to gain a few inches of height in the basement it extended the <br /> time of the job.  The crew arrived <br /> promptly every day and began by breaking up and removing the old floor.  Once that was done they began the process of installing <br /> the drain tile system and digging out the dirt/sand to gain additional ceiling <br /> height.  Once that was complete they <br /> dumped the rocks and gravel and began laying the concrete floor.  We were very satisfied with the work of US <br /> Waterproofing from start to finish.  Herb <br /> was an awesome salesman.  He was <br /> knowledgeable without being undermining and pushy and he was patient and gave <br /> us great advice about how we were to proceed.  <br /> The crew was hardworking and professional.  I would recommend US Waterproofing to anyone <br /> seeking to address leaky basement issues or have a new floor installed. The <br /> quality of their work enabled us to be able to remodel our basement."

"When we bought this house we were planning to renovate the basement.  The previous owner had represented that it had never taken on water.  The first weekend we were here, however, a torrential rainstorm caused the basement to flood.  We realized we needed to waterproof it before we could do anything else, and decided that drain tiling was the safest way to go. <br /> Greg was phenomenally responsive from the start.  He was very clear about what needed to be done and how they would do it.  He also described some optional work but was explicit that it was optional and if it didn't fit within our budget that was that, and he wasn't going to push it the slightest bit.  His quote blew away the bigger, well-known firm and was less than or on a par with some others.  He also agreed to demo the walls for a slight extra charge, which otherwise would have been a huge convenience for us.  Between then and the start of work I emailed him repeatedly with various questions and he responded almost instantly.  When his workers took down the paneling we got the unpleasant news that we had huge cracks in the walls that would need to be tuckpointed and in one area a big chunk of foundation was jutting from the wall.  That section of the foundation would need to be replaced and a support beam installed.  We were more or less at Greg's mercy at this point -- we weren't going to halt work and bring in a series of guys to quote the tuckpointing & repair -- but Greg gave us an estimate of $2,600-$3,000.  We can't know for sure, but suspect that this price was more than fair, and Greg stuck to it even though we think the work turned out to be more than they expected. <br /> The project manager, Jim, was fantastic to work with throughout, very communicative and accomodating, and the crew of five guys or so was extremely friendly and professional.  All in all, A Perfect Crawlspace was a pleasure to work with and we could not be happier with the results. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Frankfort, IL

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
