"John was very professional and explained the job in detail. The finished product was amazing so good that I also had my upstairs flooring done recently. I was also given extras such as 5" molding that made the room look stunning. His crew left everything clean when they were done. The flooring looks too nice to walk on. I am sure the floor will look just as nice for many years to come."

"I have used Class Carpet on 5 different jobs, at different homes. Alex has always been a delight to work with, as well as his staff. The installers and nice, professional, and do a great job cleaning up when done. Two examples - When carpeting the Living Room of our old home, we had an idea of what we wanted, walked into Class, and Alex presented us with a color scheme, and type of carpet we weren't thinking of. It ended up turning out great, as he has an excellent eye. After moving, we wanted to do a runner on our steps. We went to a local shop, as Class was now far away to get ideas, and found a carpet we wanted to make into a runner. Thinking the price was a bit high, we went to another local shop, and the were slightly less expensive. We then called Alex, to see if he would even come out our way, not only did he, but he beat the other two estimates, with the same carpet. As always they did a great job installing and it looks perfect. He even cut and bound us some matching entry mats with the leftovers from the runner. Stand up guy, stands by his work, and has excellent pricing. I highly reccomend."

"I was able to schedule cleaning the same week I called. They did the job in the expected amount of time. They were able to remove a number of unsightly spots on the rug. They did a very good cleaning job and the carpet dried in a reasonable time period for a maritime climate."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Franklin Square, NY

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
