"I brought in 2 antique Persian rugs for cleaning that have been in my family for decades. Moojan's (the owner) expertise of the rugs and how to clean and care for them was exactly what I was looking for. I was very satisfied with the results and will be returning to him for future rug needs. He is the best in the DMV area."

"Jacks Tile and carpet has installed carpet and new tile in our house on two separate occasions. Rosanne was very kind and helped us pick out exactly what we wanted in the showroom. The installer did a wonderful job and were very professional. We will use them again for all of our future flooring needs!"

"Awful experience, topped with a heaping pile of poor customer service. This company provided me with an estimate to do certain flooring work, and indicated they would get it done by a certain day. This was vital to my choosing them as a contractor because I needed the work done before my tenants returned from vacation. After making my initial deposit, their representative became impossible to reach by phone and email for updates on the work. Not only did the work not get done in time despite having three weeks of lead time, my tenants had to live for almost 1 month without a proper floor. They also did not replace the carpet in all sections that were included in the estimate, and then refused to adjust the invoice to account for the non-performance of work. In addition, they left debris at my property (which I had to pay someone else to remove), left the home dirty from their work, and hooked up the appliances they moved incorrectly (leading to additional damage that I needed to pay to have repaired). Do yourself a favor and choose a small business with good customer service for your flooring needs. These guys are not worth the headaches."

"I will be using this company again. From the first time we entered the business, met with Michelle, and began the purchase process, it was smooth with true professionalism. John came to the house to measure and prepare the quote and was easy to work with. The installers are rock stars--they showed up on time for a two-day job and finished it in one day, we were stunned. The entire process, from quote to installation was less than three weeks."

"Exceptional! Returned my initial call promptly, and Rob came to my house (in the evening) a few days later. He was professional, courteous, and I liked him immediately. He was no "snake-oil" salesman. He took measurements and had brought the samples of the carpets which I had told him I was interested in. It just so happened that one was the exact color I had been looking for. He had an estimate ready for me in two days and had larger samples sent to my home. Because I was having the same area painted, it was decided to have the old carpet pulled early, have the painting done, and then put new carpet down. Excellent idea, and they accommodated my busy work schedule. A week after painting, they were back on a Saturday, arrived precisely when scheduled, and expertly and beautifully laid my new high-quality and gorgeous carpet. The crew was fast and efficient, and cleaned up everything afterward. I would highly recommend this company and will use them again on my next room project."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Fredericksburg, VA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
