"I was grateful that Mr .Esteban was on time and showed me how to operate my appliance. Lately many service men install your appliances and they leave. He also encouraged me to register my microwave. I appreciate his service."

"We called and a lady answered. We were told that service might be done on that day. Several hours later, the technician called us. He came about one hour later and started checking the appliances. The microwave, which suddenly stopped working, needed a new fuse. Within 20 minutes after the technician's arrival, it started working again, He next checked the dryer, which kept rotating when the door was open. He told us it needed a door switch replaced and gave us a quote. We agreed and it was repaired quickly. He gave us one year warranty for the switch, All together, we paid $247.81 (after $10 off coupon from Angie's list). The cost was reasonable, the service was quick; further, the technician was courteous. We are happy with John James Appliance Service and would use it again in the future."

"Our technician was very attentive to our schedule needs and worked to get in and out in order for us to get to where we needed to for another appointment. Our microwave was a pain, but he was kind and handled the job with grace. He even taught my son and I a lot about the inner workings of a microwave. He left us with advice as to seeking an electrician to place the microwave on its own breaker to prevent further fuse burnout. I would definitely recommend and use them again."

"Gabriel was perfect, knowledgeable and caring in resolving our issue, while answering all the questions of us and giving further explanations and advice. I'm definitely keeping him in mind for all kinds of appliance issues, and would hire him in a whim, and already suggested his services to friends. Thanks Angi for helping me find Gabriel, and thanks Gabriel for being the best technician."

FAQs for appliance (microwave oven) installation and replacement projects in Fresno, TX

A pro can finish the job in one to three hours. Countertop models are the quickest, but built-in, drawer, and over-the-range units take longer because the installer may need to run a new outlet, modify cabinets, or add venting. Any add-ons can push the timeline closer to the three-hour mark. Hiring a licensed installer ensures the wiring is safe and the appliance operates at peak performance.

Because an over-the-range microwave doubles as a range hood, it needs proper venting. You can opt for a recirculating model that filters and recirculates air back into the kitchen, or a ducted unit that exhausts outdoors. Are you unsure which route suits your cooking style? Ask your installer for guidance before making a purchase.

Only microwaves labeled “over-the-range” have the built-in venting and lighting that’s necessary for safe, code-compliant use above a stove. Countertop models don’t have those safeguards. Before you swipe your card, have a licensed microwave installer confirm you’re choosing the right unit for the space and ensure compliance with local codes.

It’s best not to install a countertop microwave in your cabinets. Countertop models aren’t designed for use in an enclosed cabinet, and blocking those vents can trap moisture or even create a fire hazard. A built-in or drawer microwave is designed for tight spaces. Run your plans by an installer to make sure you’re buying the right style for the spot.

You don’t need an electrician if the outlet already meets the microwave’s power needs and sits in the right spot. In that case, you’re good to go ahead with the installation. If the outlet is undersized, outdated, or too far away, hire a licensed electrician to install a new one and ensure everything is code-compliant.

With routine care, most microwaves last between five and 10 years. To help them reach their maximum lifespan, wipe up spills immediately, wash the grease filter periodically, avoid using metal dishware, and close the door gently. Those simple habits reduce malfunctions and keep the appliance running smoothly for the long haul.
