"Yancy's is very price competitive. Their tile selection is not that big, but we found what we liked, and everything went very smoothlly and in a timely fashion.  Their materail prices are comparable to Master Tile, but their install prices were signifanctly less than Master TIle.  I have used Yancy's for carpet in the past.  This was the first time I had used them for tile.  I would use them again. <br />"

"Incredibly well! Very happy with everything: from selecting the actual flooring; to placing a special order; to the final installation. Selecting Creative Carpet was the best choice we could've made, and second only to the floor we had installed. It's beautiful!!! :)"

"We used Simple Flooring to install luxury vinyl plank and carpet in our home. Background: Our home was built on a slab, and the entrance and kitchen were sheet vinyl (cold and hard over the concrete), and the living/dining had a slight step up to hardwood that was slippery and dangerous. Igor is very knowledgeable and helped us solve multiple flooring issues. • Igor explained that LVP is installed over the existing hardwood, making the install faster and much less expensive. • He suggested using cork to raise the sheet vinyl to the same height as the old wood. • Igor also suggested that we change the direction of the flooring to draw people in from the front entrance. • Igor explained that thicker padding and carpet would give us the cushioning that we wanted in the bedroom. While we experienced a couple of issues during the install, Igor was responsive to resolve the issues, and we are very happy with the results. The crew worked hard to get the job done right. Very high work ethic. They moved the furniture back and swept the floor when they were done, leaving us with a clean home. Kudos to Sarah for helping us select the right color (Alexa Oak)."

"We had somebody else install it. They were nice to work with but they were not reliable as far as Saturday hours. We told them that we wanted to purchase the carpeting and we got to their showroom to pay for the carpeting because we had someone installing it that afternoon. It was sometime after 12 and there was nobody there. We hadn't told them what time we were coming. We had to make other arrangements so it was kind of a hassle. It would have been nice of them to let us know they were closing early. Their prices were reasonable and we are happy with the carpet. It has held up so far. I wasn't unhappy or super thrilled with the experience."

"One great experience. From the sweetheart sales lady, Robin, to the wonderfully capable installers. Robin went out of her way to make this happen. She recommended a durable, "dog proof" flooring solution. Of course, there is no such thing but we decided on something that should have a long life. An estimator was sent out asap. Very professional and pleasant. Robin called back with a price and happily applied a coupon which negated the tear out and disposal of the old carpet and tack boards. <br /> The installers arrived one morning right on time. All three of the guys were polite and efficient. They wasted no time in stripping the floor, prepping the surface and laying the pad and laminate. Special attention was paid to the hydronic radiators and meticulous attention to the fireplace irregular base. <br /> The team of three completed the job in four hours and left the area clean. We could not be happier with our decision to hire Tudor. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Gary, IN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
