"From beginning to end, it was fairly smooth.  The sales people were very nice and really seemed to care about what we actually wanted.  They did not try and pressure us into upgrading or getting the "best" carpet, but showed us the difference between some upon our request.  They were very accommodating to our schedule.  We had to cancel twice and push back our installation date.  The installers came a little later than stated, but we were given a call that they were running behind.  The installers were very courteous and walked us through the basement upon completion.  We were very pleased with the overall experience.  The pricing was reasonable and they help out the military and public safety families with a small discount.  We will return for further jobs if they arise. <br />"

"We are extremely picky customers & accomplished renovators and River City Flooring did a WONDERFUL job installing our hardwood floor which included open stairs going into our basement area.    We had some difficult areas of working the new flooring into already existing floors ... undercutting a long stone fireplace & fitting the wood under existing stone thresholds.   The team we had led by Walt was highly professional, fast and did excellent work? took 3 days to install.  A different  <br /> excellent  team led by Edin took another 3 days to put the finish on the stairs.   Dan Rauch, the Sales Rep, was just <br /> outstanding ? in fact, he was the reason we decided on River City over other bids.    He was very personable and <br /> knowledgeable on what  needed to be done and went into extreme detail explaining how it was going to be done.    During the installation he stopped by and checked on progress and after job was completed he stopped by to check on the <br /> finished installation and asked if there was anything we were unhappy about.     I would HIGHLY recommend this <br /> company for flooring work.  As an added bonus, River City provides their customers with lifetime supply of Bona floor <br /> cleaner."

"Everything was completed in a reasonable amount of time. At that time of year (March/April) they were very busy with many customers experiencing similar problems due to the excessive rainfall. They probably lost about three days in completing the work due to the heavy demand on their services. hey were very prompt in arriving the first time to set up the equipment to dry-out the basement. I had replaced the sump pump, so the standing water was gone when they arrived."

"Employees are very professional yet personable.  Willing to answer any question we had about installation or products being used. They were also very good about cleaning up any mess that was brought about because of construction.  Although we thought the price was a little high, I believe we got what we paid for.  We are planning to use them in the future for other home improvement projects.  <br />"

"They did everything they said they would and went above and beyond. They offer a year warranty on their work, show up on time, and even will come back to fix things. Josh is due to come out to fix some things the HVAC people did in a couple of days. They have a store, and they sell flooring, but I did not know that at the time I ordered carpet from Menards. They had no problem installing what I had purchased from elsewhere. I cannot recommend these guys enough! Seriously, if you need flooring installed, give them a call. I am having them come back to quote tile and hardwood flooring as well."

"The product (Kraftmaid) is excellent. The installation was lengthy and drawn out. The purchases I make that exceed $25,000 are few and far between. I expect outstanding service at this level. That did not happen. I have had complete homes built in less time than this job took. The install took nearly six (6) months. The attention to detail was poor and follow up was only what we initiated.  <br /> Installer (sub contractor) was an issue as well. I can't imagine that this in the norm for any company.  Be careful. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Gentryville, IN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
