"Insulating a crawl space is incredibly expensive (especially for a space that hardly anybody ever sees or goes into), but they did a good job and it has helped in keeping the pipes warmer in winter and reducing damp feeling inside the house."

"My old system failed and I was without water.  I called Jim's Well Service and they came right out.  Butch Johnson assessed my needs, told me what my options were, and gave me a spot on estimate of what it would cost. <br /> Whenever I called, Butch got right back to me (within fifteen minutes at most).  He and the rest of the crew, Jay Pierce and Anthony Haskell, were very conscientious and professional, showed up when they said they would, and did what they said they would do, I am totally satisfied with the job they did for me. <br /> If you need work done on your well and/or pump, call these people.  I highly recommend them. <br />"

"I have purchased 3 systems from A/C Masters now as I have a number of rental homes. They have given me competitive prices but what sticks out about them is their service and their willingness to honor their warranties when things go wrong. While I have had several issues with the Carrier units they installed, they have been there with me to get them fixed and the tenants back with heat or AC quickly. The most recent was last night when they came out on short notice, fixed the unit quickly and professionally. The technician was wonderful from what I heard...knowledgeable and professional. I will call them again as the need arises both for service and to quote new systems. Thanks guys. Keep up the good work."

"The crew arrived on the date/time promised. They were polite, professional, and worked non-stop (except for 2 short breaks and lunch). Because of my landscaping, the crew determined the best way to get to the bottom of the foundation was to dig a hole—24” x 8’. It was truly impressive—perfectly squared off. They sealed the wall, replaced the dirt, and replaced decorative stone. They then installed a 50’ French drain—trenching, refilling the trench, and removing excess debris. The crew worked as a team, did a top-notch job, and left the job sites better than they found them. It took them 4 days—and they never wavered from an extraordinary work ethic. That was last week. This week? We’ve had torrential downpours and flooding—but my basement and garage are dry. I’d hire them again in a heartbeat."

"Freddy was very professional and knowledgeable and explained that the water issues were not the result of foundation issues and explained what he could do if i wanted a dry basement. He did not try to sell me something that i did not need."

"Robb was very professional and took his time in helping me understand what remedy was needed for our issue.  HIs price was very reasonable.  The installer, Gary, was also very professional and courteous, along with allowing me to ask many questions so I fully understood what work he was performing and how it was going to eleviate my water problem.  I felt very comfortable dealing with Virginia Basement and I didn't feel like they were trying to "oversell" me anything either.  Gary is very knowledgeable in his line of work and I felt very comfortable knowing that what he was saying and doing was the correct way.   Gary was on time each day and cleaned up everything when he was done.  We just moved into this house 3 months ago and this was an unexpected, major repair that needed to get done quickly.  We made the right choice with Virginia Basement with their quick response and expertise with this problem.   We would highly recommend them to others. <br />"

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Gloucester, VA

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
