"He sent out his worker Bill who was very curtious and professional. He did a awesome job repairing roof, ceiling and floor. He also had to jack the room back up to house and seal it. I think it was a bit pricey. But I guess if gou want professionalism nd a good job done you have to pay for it.over all it was a great expeirance and Im very satisfied with the work that was done and would use this contractor again. <br />"

"I received quotes from multiple companies and they were all comparable. All other companies spent approx 45 min looking at the house and taking measurements. Ayes spent 4 hours total at my home. Very comprehensive, professional and knowledgeable. My home required 21 Helix Piers which are much preferred to Push Piers. Matt was my contact person, Evan was on site. Just an excellent job all round. Evan team hit a main water pipe which caused a small leak in the basement. Matt drove 90 min to my home at 9pm arriving at 10.30 pm to ensure me they would fix the problem. The local water dept turned off the water, Matt spoke with them and had the bill taken care of. The next morning the pipe was repaired and we were off and running. Matt did not leave my home until after 11pm and a 90 min drive home. That is what I call customer service. Thank you Ayers for an excellent job. My family appreciated all your efforts."

"Miller Building Company is the most professional remodeling company I have had the pleasure to work with.  I hired Miller Building Company to finish a bathroom update and I had initially hired a 'handyman' to do.  I let the handyman go when the quality of work left much to be desired.  Miller Building Company is very detail oriented and worked with me to finish the job to my satisfaction.  Miller Building was always on time and kept me informed throughout the job.  They take the extra steps needed to get the job done, get it done right, on time and on budget.  They were respectful of my home and took extra care to minimize disruption caused by construction.  Each person I interacted with from Miller Building was polite and professional. <br />"

"After interviewing several contractors, we chose Precision Built Construction for our garage project. Don, the owner, worked with us on final design, multiple iterations and cost estimates. Being comfortable with our builder was important to us since this is a vacation home and we weren't going to be on site all the time. Precision Built came through at every aspect of the project. Don was always responsive with us, even on weekends and after normal business hours.  We are very happy with the final product; our garage is beautiful, and we get complements from our neighbors. The neighbors that drove by during the construction commented on how hard and efficiently the crew worked. They kept the job site free of trash and debris on a daily basis. We would recommend Precision Built to everyone, and we plan to use them again for future projects."

"Our builder uses ProBuild for his material.  We live 3 hours away from the area and <br /> stopped by to select our exterior door. <br /> Even though we had our windows, shingles and siding selected with our <br /> builder, Jim Wagner from this ProBuild took the time to go over everything with us while we were <br /> there. <br /> We discovered a few things that had to be checked on with the various <br /> manufacturers, after we left so we had to go back and forth with Jim by <br /> email.  There were several emails and he was very prompt getting back <br /> with us.  What I <br /> liked best was that he made sure we were all on the <br /> same page before he ordered the material.  From past experience, this is <br /> very important. <br /> The framing was also ordered and our builder <br /> uses Jeld-Wen for windows and doors.  We will have to see their framing <br /> material so will have to see that quality.  We have never used Jeld-Wen <br /> so we will have to get back on the quality and cost comparison. <br />"

"They were excellent to work with and very detailed and professional throughout the entire process. Design and costs were determined prior to the contract and they completed the job on time and on budget. I would highly recommend them for any new construction or remodeling."

"Gary and his team are very professional. He came out, provided an estimate for the work, and performed the service exactly as planned, on-time and on-budget. I realize that backsplash work is only part of what his company can offer but, based on my experience, I would (will) give him consideration for other larger projects, when the time comes. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Good-hart, MI

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
