Eventually his tools were not quite up to the job (the clog was deeper than his snake could reach) so he fixed the other problem (replaced the shutoff valve under a toilet) while waiting for word from the office. Eventually he came back the next day with a longer snake and cleared the drain! Charged me the quoted price, never tried to upsell or overcharge me even though it took much longer than they expected. "Everything went smoothly. Honest folk an did the work right. 1500 Gallon Septic Tank emptying for the first time in 4 years. Agreed to charge was $400. The tank was emptied but the septic lines were saturated due to weeks of rain so they kept emptying into the tank like a waterfall. Another roughly 900 gallons emptied from the septic lines into the tank. They also cleaned and closely inspect tank, flushed all toilets to demonstrate septic lines were clean. Total charge ended up being $700. No digging was required due to riser lid."
