"We had bought a new home that had shutters according to code. If a storm was forecast, it would have been impossible for me to put the shutters up because they were made to fit horizontally. I don't even own an electric drill, which is a must for this kind of installation. When Don came we analized each window and door opening and what best could be done. He already had gone to Lowe's to inquire about the material prices. With prices in hand, we could decide what type of shutters to use to make it cost efficient and safe. It was a pleasure working with him, his ideas were excellent and I will now be able to shutter the house myself, if the need arises. "Everyone at Solar Shield was very nice and professional. We had a few concerns when the moisture barrier was installed and we still had rain in our bedroom. Frank got it corrected the next day, and finished the roof the following week. The good news: very nice looking roof with no more leaks. The bad news: we got pictures of the hurricane straps installed and had the roof inspected by our insurance company. They found that the hurricane straps installed were not up to their standards and neither was the moisture barrier. They also found multiple slats (we didn’t have decking that covered the whole roof - old house) that were split and compromised during the work, so we were unable to qualify for any insurance discounts. Overall, we have a nice looking roof - top of the line from Solar Shield Industries. Hopefully, it will last a lifetime. But unfortunately, we have some decking remediation that needs to be done and we still need hurricane straps, which will probably be clips now. Not a big enough deal for me to raise a stink. I can retro clips and repair the few decking issues from the attic & under siding. And apparently, the moisture barrier is just not what the insurance company accepts as a “moisture barrier.”"
